Job Description

The Duke-NUS Centre for Biomedical Data Science (CBDS) serves as a central hub for Duke-NUS faculty specialising in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other quantitative and data‑driven sciences. CBDS functions as a strategic platform for cutting‑edge research, education, and services in data science, AI, and biomedical computation.

We invite applications for a Research Assistant (Cloud Infrastructure Engineer) role in CBDS. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the administration of the Healthcare Commercial Cloud (HCC). HCC is a commercial cloud platform operating in AWS and Azure, with customised infrastructure designed to support healthcare staff and organisations. HCC enables healthcare organisations to leverage commercial cloud services while ensuring that security compliances are met.

• Design, develop, and operate cloud security technologies, solutions, and services in HCC AWS and Azure in accordance with the relevant Healthcare cloud security policies and standards, cloud architecture standards and guidelines.
• Manage the AWS Management Console, AWS data storage (S3) and virtual machine (EC2) to enable research collaborators through Research Gateway.
• Enable AWS cloud infrastructure for different researchers within and across teams.
• Able to perform in‑depth troubleshooting and tracing of traffics / activities across various cloud services within commercial cloud environment (AWS and Azure) to identify root cause of the issues / incidents.
• Secure and maintain up‑to‑date baseline HCC computing services such as vm image with latest anti‑malware definitions and latest patches.
• Deploy and maintain clinical data management platforms (e.g., Medidata, REDCap and Qualtrics) for electronic remote data capturing.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ hands‑on experience with AWS and Azure, including workload management, identity & access control, policy compliance, virtualisation, storage, and databases.
• Knowledge of AWS/Azure Well-Architected Framework and Application Infrastructure Architecture Standards. Prior government/healthcare experience is a plus.
• Experience designing and building web environments on AWS (e.g., S3, EC2).
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows server administration, installing applications and data science tools (R, RStudio, Python, Anaconda).
• Experience with cloud monitoring tools (AWS SNS, CloudWatch, billing dashboards) and budget tracking.
• Familiarity with AWS service catalogue, AMI, scripting (JSON, Python, YAML), and Terraform for infrastructure management.
• Skilled in customising Qualtrics surveys using JavaScript and HTML.
• Possesses strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.
• A team player who is able to prioritise, multi‑task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
• Candidates with higher credentials may be considered for more senior appointments.
