Job description

Project Scope:

Join our innovative research team studying microbial biotransformation of botanical extracts! This project investigates how different bacterial strains transform plant-derived compounds, with applications in bioactive ingredient development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain bacterial cultures.
  • Prepare and sterilize various plant-based media.
  • Conduct time-course fermentations with precise sampling.
  • Perform microbial enumeration (plate counts, OD measurements).
  • Analyze fermentation products (pH, acidity, HPLC et al).
  • Document procedures and maintain detailed lab records.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • BS/BA in Microbiology, Food Science, Biochemistry or related field.
  • 6+ months wet lab experience (academic or industry).
  • Comfort with repetitive but precise experimental work.
  • Willingness to learn anaerobic/handling techniques.
  • Flexibility for occasional early/late weekday sampling.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with bacterial culture maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of phytochemicals or botany.
  • Familiarity with any analytical instrumentation.
