Job summary

NIE's English Language and Literature Department invites applications for a 12-month Research Assistant contract to support the ALMA project. The role focuses on building the AI-based learning assistant that analyzes speech, gesture and visuals to provide formative feedback and supports classroom deployment.

The successful candidate will develop ALMA, test with users, document technical work, and coordinate activities with students and teachers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computing and Data Sciences or equivalent.
• Experience developing chatbots and AI assistants.
• Interest in Generative AI and Learning.
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering and API integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop ALMA (AI Learning Multimodal Assistant) to be used in classroom and research settings.
• Test, evaluate and refine the system with students and teachers based on feedback.
• Coordinate study activities and gather feedback from participants.
