The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50% and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Regional Vice President (RVP) who will report to the Regional President, Asia Pacific to develop and manage regional strategy, portfolio and all business operations. The RVP will ensure regional strategies and initiatives are well aligned to the global strategy and with global strategic planning and portfolio management standards. The RVP will manage shared service development from the region to global, oversee all matrix functions and grant acquisition/management, and deliver excellent support services for all program and advancement country offices.
The RVP is responsible for portfolio oversight in the region across programs and advancement and acting as the Regional President’s primary advisor on resource allocation and new country opportunities (where relevant). The RVP will lead the global strategic planning process within the region in partnership with the Regional President and will directly manage a team of subject matter experts and shared service providers across the region.
This position can be based in Washington D.C., Australia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia or Thailand and reports to the Regional President, Asia Pacific and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the above-mentioned countries.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of the regional office.
- Ensure regional delivery against all KPIs.
- Lead robust regional strategy development and portfolio management.
- Execute the global strategic planning process within the Asia Pacific region, including multi-year planning, annual strategic planning, and dynamic updates (as needed based on opportunities that arise throughout the year).
- Oversee regional financial analysis, planning and budgeting functions and the regional budget.
- Oversee regional people support functions (HR, people development, staff care, etc.).
- Oversee regional legal, risk management and governance matters.
- Secure the delivery of excellent matrixed subject matter experts and support functions for the region.
- Delivering to KPIs on grant funding ($ level of grant funding secured through advancement offices for programs outside the region, and $ level of grant funding secured for offices within the region)
- Develop and deliver program and advancement expansion in the region (where relevant).
Education & Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in strategy development or management consulting.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience overseeing the design and implementation of international development programs, including casting vision, setting effective strategy, building strong local partnerships and program evaluation efforts.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing complex budgets totaling over $5M including grant revenue.
- Experience with project and/or portfolio management.
- Graduate degree in management, business, or administration and/or international development.
