Company Overview:

X Star is a leading AI-driven automobile financing platform and committed to build an automotive ecosystem with more convenient, safe and efficient financing services overseas.

As the expanding of business, we are looking for Regional Legal Counsel to further support the growing business needs in Singapore.

Job Responsibilities

You will be part of the regional legal team and provide legal counsel support to X Star businesses in the region.

1. Contract Management:

  • Review and draft a wide range of commercial contracts and documents, including but not limited to partnership agreements, procurement contracts, service agreements, internal policies and pleadings.
  • Ensure contractual terms are legally compliant, align with business objectives, and effectively protect the company's interests.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and provide practical legal solutions to mitigate potential risks.

2. Legal Compliance Support:

  • Provide full-spectrum legal guidance for the company's operations in Singapore, with expertise in Singapore Companies Act, employment laws, financial regulations, and the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
  • Conduct legal investigations of business decisions and operational processes to ensure strict adherence to local laws and regulations involving multiple jurisdictions.

3. Dispute Resolution:

  • Lead the handling of litigation, arbitration, and other legal disputes in Singapore, leveraging your extensive experience in contentious matters.
  • Formulate effective dispute resolution strategies and maintain strong relationships with external law firms to ensure professional and efficient case management.

4. Legal Research and Training:

  • Monitor legal developments and regulatory changes in Singapore, providing timely updates and actionable recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Organize regular legal training sessions to enhance employees' legal awareness and compliance capabilities.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as an internal consultant to bridge communication between internal teams (e.g., sales, finance, IT) and external vendors (e.g., law firms, agencies).

6. Ad Hoc Tasks:

  • Complete other assignments delegated by supervisors.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should be seasoned Legal Counsel professional with:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Finance, or related fields.
  • A qualification certificate (QC) issued by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education or Malaysian Certificate in Legal Practice, with familiarity of Malaysian legal system is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of legal experience, preferably gained in finance, automotive, or technology companies.
  • Proven track record in handling litigation and arbitration cases in Singapore & Experience in handling cross-border legal matters involving multiple jurisdictions, demonstrating adaptability to diverse legal and cultural environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Laws of Singapore related to corporate law, employment regulations, financial compliance, and PDPA.
  • Master in intellectual property law and ability to manage IP – related matters independently.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
