Overview

Regional Director, Marine, Asia. The Regional Director reporting to the Head of Marine, Asia, will lead the development and execution of strategic growth plans for Marine insurance solutions across Asia. This role is responsible for driving business expansion, fostering client and market relationships, ensuring technical excellence, and championing innovation in alignment with Aon’s regional and global objectives.

What the day will look like
  • Drive the delivery of client and revenue growth plans for Marine risks (Cargo, Hull, P&I Marine Liabilities) in Asia.
  • Drive and support the delivery and uniformed discipline around sales pipelines and delivery in Asia as required in an Aon United manner.
  • Develop, analyse, gain agreement and implement sales strategies across Marine risks (Cargo, Hull, P&I Marine Liabilities) in Asia to ensure a clear path to aggressive growth in line with the regional Commercial Risk Solutions strategy.
  • Build and foster rapport with insurers and reinsurers to develop leads and opportunities and gather market intelligence to secure the best deals for clients.
  • Collaborate with retail teams on the broking strategy for key clients, considering local markets, Asia direct markets, Singapore Facultative team and Global Broking Centre London.
  • Support responses to quotations and tenders from the Aon Regional network of offices in Asia and develop quality presentations as needed, working with relevant country and global expertise where required, servicing accounts from the Aon regional network of offices in Asia.
  • Provide technical support and, where necessary, training to the network, especially for emerging issues in the Marine world (Cargo, Hull, P&I Marine Liabilities).
  • Consider and activate innovation such as digital solutions and new products development for Marine insurance in the region and implement positive change, working closely with global Marine insurance colleagues.
  • Support on claims advocacy as required, working with the Regional Head of Marine Claims Advocacy for Asia.
  • Coach and provide guidance to other less experienced team members and retail colleagues to encourage professional development.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Minimum requirement (BCP, PGI, CommGI) for registration with MAS or a similar qualification acceptable to MAS.
  • Proven track record within the Marine insurance industry.
  • Technical skills around insurance policy interpretation and drafting and/or Marine Risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to forge strong relationships with country and specialty colleagues as well as clients and insurers.
  • Self-disciplined, organized, with attention to detail and ability to prioritise.
  • Regional travel is required.
