Job summary

KLA in Singapore is seeking a regional development applications engineer who will specialize in the CI product for final QC-out inspection of IC packages, and interact directly with customers on new package designs.

You will provide post-sales support, help with on-site troubleshooting, and collaborate with engineering in Singapore or Belgium, with occasional training sessions for customers and local engagement engineers.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 3+ years in industry.
• Experience as a technical specialist or application engineer in the semiconductor backend is a plus.
• Dynamic, people-oriented professional with strong organizational skills.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and knowledge transfer.
• Proficient in English with good communication skills.
• Based in Singapore with regular travel in SEA and occasional travel abroad.

Responsibilities

• Specialize in the CI product handling final QC-out inspection for IC packages (BGA, QFP, QFN).

• Analyze feasibility of customer requirements and propose technically sound solutions to customers.
• Serve as the go-to for Customer Engagement Apps Engineers, providing post-sales support and on-site troubleshooting.

The ICOS Vision Systems division focuses on the backend of the line semiconductor industry providing fully automated tools to inspect and sort, finished integrated circuit packages. For more than 15 years, ICOS has been a market leader with tray-to-tray and tray-to-tape inspection and sorting tools found in the production facilities of all major chipmakers in the world. Our market-leading technology and superior customer service requires strong talent in optics, machine control, algorithms and applications within our engineering teams. The ICOS division headquarters are in Leuven, Belgium with additional engineering and manufacturing operations in Singapore and Shenzhen (China).

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The regional development applications engineer will have following responsibilities in the team:

• You will specialize yourself into the CI product that handles the final QC-out inspection of IC products such as BGA, QFP or QFN packages
• You engage directly with customers for new IC package designs, and share your recipe development learnings with peers by means of BKMs (Best Known Method)
• Analyzing the technical feasibility of specific customer requirements, you align with the engineering on a solution and formulate a technical proposal in a clear way to customers
• As the go-to person for the Customer Engagement Apps Engineers, you provide post-sales phone support, go on-site for troubleshooting, or elevate issues to engineering located in Singapore or Belgium
• Occasional training sessions customers and local customer engagement engineers will be part of the work package.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of industry experience
• Experience as a technical specialist or application engineer in the semiconductor backend is an advantage
• You are dynamic and like to interact with people
• Excellent organizational and self-leadership skills
• A keen technical mind, an eye for detail, a positive drive and committing to results
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to absorb and transfer knowledge to others
• Proficient in English with good communication skills
• This is a position based in Singapore with regular travel in the South-East area (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines) as well as occasional travel outside this area.
