STATEMENT OF PURPOSE


To perform all general and certain specialized radiographic examinations, with due regard to patient care, clinical responsibility, radiation protection and effective use of technology.



DEPARTMENT FUNCTION(S)


  • Major Duties and Responsibilities

(A) SPECIFIC (80%)


  • Perform all duties required of a professional Radiographer.

  • Provide radiology services as requested by referring clinicians according to statutory regulations and acceptable clinical standards.

  • Ensure compliance to Radiation safety regulations.

  • Participate in the maintenance of a round-the-clock radiography service by rotating shifts.

  • Being on-call for relief staff for emergency and mass casualties by roster and when necessary.

  • Responsible for quality control programs and maintenance of imaging equipment and accessories in the assigned clinical area.

  • Provide guidance to junior staff or students assigned to the section.

  • Ensure personal continual professional development and training.

  • Coordinate with staff from other sections or departments to ensure continuity of patient care.

  • Cognizant of relevant standard operating protocols (SOPs) and standard work instructions (SWIs) in the assigned clinical areas.

  • Ensure proper records keeping and management.

  • Responsible for the good housekeeping and inventory of stocks and materials in the assigned clinical area.

(B) GENERAL (20%)


  • Provides teaching and leadership guidance to junior staff. Act on higher positions when necessary.

  • Any other duties assigned by the reporting officer, Department Manager or Head of Department.

  • Embrace continuous improvements as our way of life by improving and refining work performance on a daily basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE


  • Recognized Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.

  • Competent in diagnostic radiography and conversant in radiographic processing, quality control and film fault and trouble shooting of x-ray equipment.

(B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE


  • Radiation Protection Act

  • Allied Health Professional Act

ABNORMAL PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITION

  • Radiation hazards and physical lifting of patient.
