Job summary

Seagate International Headquarters Pte. Ltd. in Singapore seeks engineers for firmware and software validation at Shugart site. You will work on validating firmware features and testing software using C/C++, Python, and Seagate scripting tools.

Qualifications

• At least 3 months of significant project experience in developing and debugging software/firmware in Python, C, C++, C#, or Java.
• Experience with Linux OS and familiarity with shell commands is advantageous.
• Masters/ in Computer Science or equivalent disciplines and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Use Seagate’s proprietary AI tool to analyze Seagate proprietary scripting software (STX).
• Remove obsolete test cases and add missing test coverage.
• Enhance and update test cases to meet latest firmware test requirements.
• Enhance and update test software to support new test requirements.
• Study industry-standard specs, including SCSI command sets and HDD SMART standards.
• Review test software and design/refine test scenarios for new objectives.
• Write and execute unit/bench tests; debug and validate software and firmware behavior.
• Perform code reviews and collaborate to ensure quality implementations.
• Conduct failure analysis (FA) and resolve issues in test software.
• Receive training on core command protocols and internal test frameworks.
• Follow SDLC using Agile/Scrum to design, implement, and release software.

Firmware Test Developmentispart of the Firmware and Software Engineering organization. The team design, developer andmaintaintest software in C/C++/Python/Seagate proprietary scripting software forvalidatingthe Firmware features and the drive overall performance is within the industrial protocol and customer expectation.

About the role - you will

• Use Seagate’s proprietary AI tool to analyzeSeagate proprietary scripting software(STX)

• Follow the full Software Development Life Cycle using Agile/Scrum methodologies to design, implement, and release software.

About you

• Passionate about software development, debugging, and problem solving
• Comfortable with reading command specs and translating them into software solution

• Good knowledge in software engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
• Strong teamwork qualities as well as communication and good interpersonal skills to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment

Your experience includes

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center.
