A leading company in the semiconductor capital equipment industry seeks an engineer to assist in the design and testing of radio-frequency components. The role requires expertise in electrical engineering and knowledge of plasma behavior, including standards for testing and equipment operation, to support the development of critical components in their Fusionopolis location.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design, development, and testing of radio-frequency components for the semiconductor capital equipment industry. These components can include high-power generators, matching networks, filters, or other tuning elements.
Coordinate with other team members to resolve issues with radio-frequency equipment in the laboratory and in the field.
Work with vendors to develop design requirements and ensure delivery of parts that meet specifications.
Create test plans and reports that support the evaluation of radio-frequency components. To accomplish these tasks the candidate will need to understand the principles and operation of network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, directional couplers, and other radio-frequency test equipment. The candidate must also understand circuit theory to develop analytical models of radio-frequency components. These models are used to determine the capabilities and limitations of radio-frequency equipment.
Assemble or modify radio-frequency components to modify their performance or enable access for instrumentation.
Requirements
Relevant engineering education qualification especially in Electrical or Materials Engineering.
Have a thorough knowledge of plasma generated by radio-frequencies, both capacitively coupled and inductively coupled.
Understanding of plasma sheath formation and dynamics, basic plasma parameters (Debye length, plasma frequency, collision frequency, mean free path length, etc.), and the electromagnetic properties of plasmas.
Familiarity with the principles and operation of plasma diagnostic equipment such as Langmuir probes, optical emission spectrometers, and ion energy analyzers is desirable.
