Job summary

Darwin Recruitment seeks a Quantum Characterisation, Verification & Validation Researcher to design and execute experiments for assessing neutral-atom quantum computer performance. You will extract noise information from data and work with experimentalists to improve fidelities.

The role involves collaborating with theorists to develop simulations and predictive models, and creating data analysis tools for benchmarking quantum hardware. A PhD and Python experience are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in Quantum Information, Physics, CS, or mathematics.
• Experience with QCVV methods: randomized benchmarking, cycle benchmarking, in-situ benchmarking, gate set tomography, process tomography, shadow tomography.
• Publications demonstrating QCVV experience.
• Proficient in Python for data acquisition and analysis.
• Familiarity with quantum error correction and fault-tolerance.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, experimental physics, quantum information, and software disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and carry out experiments to identify physical error mechanisms impacting performance.
• Quantify device performance at physical and logical levels.
• Collaborate with experimentalists and control engineers to improve device performance.
• Collaborate with quantum information theorists to translate data into predictive models for hardware performance.
• Develop data analysis tools to benchmark experimental data.
