Job description

About Chishi Family Office

Chishi Family Office is a Singapore-based family office focused on the long-term management and growth of family capital through disciplined and data-driven investment strategies. We invest across global financial markets and combine fundamental investment thinking with quantitative research, technology, and rigorous risk management.

As we continue to strengthen our investment and research capabilities, we are seeking an experienced Quantitative Researcher / Analyst to join our investment team.

The Role

The Quantitative Researcher / Analyst will be responsible for developing quantitative research, analytical models and data-driven investment insights to support the Family Office's investment decision-making process.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, Investment Director and investment team to research financial markets, analyse large and diverse datasets, identify investment opportunities, develop quantitative models and evaluate systematic investment strategies.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across the full quantitative research lifecycle — from data collection and hypothesis development through modelling, testing, implementation and ongoing performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantitative research across financial markets to identify statistical patterns, investment signals and potential opportunities.
  • Develop, test and refine quantitative models to support investment strategy, portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk management.
  • Research and develop predictive signals using market, fundamental, macroeconomic, alternative and other relevant datasets.
  • Design and perform rigorous backtesting of investment strategies, including analysis of performance, risk, transaction costs, signal decay and robustness.
  • Monitor existing models and quantitative strategies to identify changes in performance, market behaviour or underlying assumptions.
  • Analyse large volumes of structured and unstructured data and transform them into usable datasets and actionable investment insights.
  • Work with databases and data pipelines to collect, organise, clean, validate and maintain financial and alternative datasets.
  • Explore new data sources and assess their relevance and predictive value for investment research.
  • Apply statistical methods, econometrics and, where appropriate, machine-learning techniques to financial-market research.
  • Develop tools, dashboards and analytical frameworks to support portfolio monitoring and investment decision-making.
  • Investigate market behaviour, correlations, factors, regimes and other relationships relevant to portfolio performance.
  • Maintain clear documentation of research methodology, data sources, model assumptions, validation procedures and results.
  • Present quantitative research and investment findings clearly to the Principal, Investment Director and other members of the investment team.
  • Collaborate with investment professionals and technology/data partners to implement research ideas and improve the Family Office's quantitative research infrastructure.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Financial Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in quantitative research, quantitative modelling, systematic investing, quantitative analysis or a closely related role.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, testing and evaluating quantitative models.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, econometrics, time-series analysis or other relevant quantitative methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to approach complex and open-ended investment questions systematically.
  • Experience working with large databases and structured datasets, including data extraction, cleaning, transformation, validation and quality control.
  • Familiarity with handling and analysing unstructured datasets, which may include text, documents, news, research reports, alternative data or other non-tabular information.
  • Proficiency in Python and commonly used quantitative/data-analysis libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn and statsmodels, or equivalent tools.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database querying.
  • Ability to independently conduct research from initial hypothesis through analysis, modelling, testing and presentation of conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain quantitative findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in quantitative investment research, asset management, hedge funds, proprietary trading, family offices or other investment environments.
  • Experience developing systematic investment strategies or predictive market signals.
  • Familiarity with equities, fixed income, FX, commodities, derivatives or multi-asset portfolios.
  • Experience with financial and market-data platforms such as Bloomberg or other institutional databases.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence or alternative-data analysis.
  • Experience working with APIs, cloud-based data infrastructure or automated data pipelines.
  • Understanding of portfolio construction, optimisation, factor models, risk modelling and performance attribution.
  • Experience taking quantitative models or research strategies from research into a live investment or production environment.
Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Intellectually curious and genuinely interested in financial markets and quantitative investing.
  • Rigorous and objective when evaluating research results.
  • Highly attentive to data quality, modelling assumptions and validation methodology.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of research projects.
  • Able to challenge assumptions and distinguish meaningful statistical relationships from noise.
  • Practical and commercially minded, with an emphasis on turning research into actionable investment decisions.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working within a small, dynamic Family Office environment.
  • Adaptable and able to manage multiple research priorities in a fast-moving investment environment.
What You Will Bring to the Team

The successful candidate will help strengthen Chishi Family Office's quantitative investment capabilities by combining financial-market research, statistical modelling, database management and alternative/unstructured data analysis.

The objective of the role is not simply to produce research, but to develop robust and repeatable analytical frameworks that improve investment decision-making, portfolio construction and risk management across the Family Office.
