Job Summary
To lead and manage the quality assurance and food safety functions to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems (e.g. HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, GMP).
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.
- Oversee quality control procedures, including raw material inspections, in-process checks, and finished product testing.
- Lead and manage the quality assurance team, including training, performance evaluation, and development.
- Investigate customer complaints, non-conformities, and deviations; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and lead external audits (e.g. SFA, third-party certifications, customer audits) and ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Manage documentation and record-keeping systems related to quality and food safety.
- Analyze quality data and trends; generate reports and drive initiatives to reduce product defects and improve consistency.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, procurement, and other departments to ensure product quality throughout the supply chain.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of quality testing equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- At least 5–8 years of experience in a quality or food safety role, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g. HACCP, GMP, ISO, FSSC).
- Experience with regulatory authorities such as SFA, AVA, or relevant international bodies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
- Lead auditor certification for ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or related standards.
- Experience in handling export requirements and international food safety regulations.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma tools for quality improvement.
