Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Singapore is seeking a quality inspection professional to develop detailed inspection plans for aerospace components, define acceptance criteria, and create traceable records across FAI, in-process and final inspections.

You will collaborate with design and engineering teams, select inspection tools (CMM, optical, gaging), ensure compliance with AS9100/NADCAP/FAA, participate in audits, and lead process improvements while maintaining safety standards and accurate

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T.
  • Proficiency in inspection tools and equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers).
  • Strong analytical skills with root cause analysis ability.
  • Working knowledge of QMS AS9100, AS9102, AS13100 requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience interpreting CAD/drawings and using CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of CMM and NDT is a plus.
  • Effective communication and teamwork, able to work shifts.
  • University degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in role.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to define inspection methods and criteria for new parts.
  • Identify and select inspection tools and measurement equipment (CMM, optical, gaging).
  • Establish acceptance criteria and tolerances based on drawings and specs.
  • Create and maintain inspection reports and traceability records, including FAI and in-process inspections.
  • Develop inspection records for traceability and certification, including first article inspections.
  • Create CMM or gear programming for in-process and final inspections.
  • Ensure all processes comply with AS9100, NADCAP, FAA regulations and customer requirements.
  • Support audits and perform root-cause analysis for quality issues; drive improvements.
  • Stay current with inspection technologies and industry trends; lead efficiency initiatives.

In this position, he or she will be responsible:

  • Develop detailed inspection plans for aerospace components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, engineering specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to define the most appropriate inspection methods and criteria for new parts, assemblies, and systems.
  • Identify and select suitable inspection tools, techniques, and measurement equipment (e.g., CMM, optical, gaging etc.).
  • Establish acceptance criteria and tolerances for aerospace products based on engineering drawings, material specifications, and industry standards.
  • Create and maintain detailed inspection reports, documentation, and records, ensuring that all inspection activities are traceable and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop inspection records that support traceability and certification, including first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
  • Create CMM or Gear Programming for in process inspection and final inspection.
  • Ensure that all inspection processes adhere to aerospace industry standards, including AS9100, AS9110, AS9120, NADCAP, FAA regulations, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, ensuring that all personnel are trained and knowledgeable about relevant protocols.
  • Support internal and external audits related to inspection processes and quality assurance systems.
  • Investigate and perform root cause analysis for any quality issues or inspection failures, using tools such as 8D, FMEA, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Lead initiatives to improve inspection processes, reduce inspection times, and increase the accuracy and reliability of inspections.
  • Stay current with the latest inspection technologies, methodologies, and trends in the aerospace industry.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in the use of inspection tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
  • Good working on Quality Management System meeting AS9100, AS9102, AS13100 requirements.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience to use simple CAD/drawing software, well on engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Knowledge of Co-Ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) will be added advantages.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work rotating shifts
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
