Job summary

A leading food sourcing company in Singapore is seeking a Food Safety Manager to develop and implement a food safety management system. The role involves ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, overseeing quality control processes, and leading audits. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Food Science & Technology, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strong leadership skills. This position requires collaboration across departments and with suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Internal Auditor/Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement food safety management system in compliance with SFA licensing conditions, HACCP, ISO 22000, Halal, and other relevant standards

  • Leading preparatory work for GACC registration/application to support exports to China

  • Ensure compliance with local and international food safety regulations for both importation and exportation

  • Oversee quality control (QC) processes, including sampling, testing, and record-keeping

  • Review and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with industry regulations and company policies

  • Lead internal and external audits, manage certification processes, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations

  • Lead mock recall exercises to evaluate and improve the organization's recall readiness and traceability systems

  • Ensure product labelling meets customer specifications and regulatory requirements, including allergen declarations, and country-specific labelling laws

  • Develop and implement effective sampling for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods

  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to food safety team members on food safety management system and standards

  • Investigate and resolve non-compliance issues, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Analyse data, test results, customer feedback, and audit reports to drive continuous improvement

  • Liaise with local and other countries' authorities for importation and exportation issues

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Food Science & Technology or a related discipline

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry with proven expertise in HACCP, ISO 22000, and quality management system

  • Certifications: Internal Auditor/Lead Auditor certification preferred

  • Skills and Competencies:

  1. Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills

  2. Ability to implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hazard analysis

  3. Experience in auditing, documentation control, and technical report writing

  4. Hands-on approach to quality control and sampling methodologies

  5. Experience in conducting mock recalls and product traceability exercises

  6. Knowledge of food labelling regulations and compliance requirements

  7. Proficiency in sampling techniques, mock recall execution, and product labelling compliance

  8. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with suppliers

  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
