A QC Electrical Engineer in the marine electrical fieldfocuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical systems on ships and other marine vessels.They are responsible for inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting electrical components and systems to ensure they meet safety standards and operational requirements.This includes tasks like inspecting installations, conducting performance tests, and preparing quality control documentation.

Quality Control:

Inspecting electrical installations, testing equipment, and ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.

System Upgrades:

Contributing to the modernization and improvement of electrical systems for enhanced performance and energy efficiency.

Verification:Confirming that materials, components, and systems are in compliance.

Monitoring:Overseeing electrical work during installation and maintenance.

Analysis:Utilizing test data to assess performance and identify potential issues.

Reporting:Documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.

Documentation:

Preparing and maintaining quality control records, such as test reports, inspection checklists, and commissioning documentation.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensuring all electrical work adheres to safety regulations and maritime standards.

Collaboration:

Working with other engineers, contractors, and vessel personnel to ensure integrated system functionality and effective operation.

Cable Gland:

To Check the glanding and termination ensures that cable glands and terminations are installed correctly and meet project specifications and standards

Earthing Integrity:

Confirming that earthing connections are properly made and that star washers or earth tags are installed where required.

Insulation and Creepage Distances:

Checking that insulation and creepage distances meet the specified requirements to prevent electrical faults.

Torque Values:

Verifying that all connections are tightened to the correct torque values to ensure proper sealing and electrical contact.

Water Tightness:

Testing for water ingress in outdoor or wet environments to prevent moisture-related issues.

Industry Standards:Knowledge of the IEC, IECEx, CompEx, and other relevant electrical standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Education:Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
