A leading food manufacturing company in Singapore is seeking a QA Executive responsible for ensuring food products meet safety and quality standards. This role involves implementing food safety management systems, conducting audits, and managing quality assurance processes to maintain compliance with industry regulations. Candidates should possess a relevant qualification in food science and notable experience in quality control within the food sector.
Job Scope:
The QA Executive is responsible for ensuring that all food products meet established safety and quality standards. This role involves overseeing quality control and assurance processes, implementing SOPs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in food safety management, SOP and policy creation, and hands-on experience in quality control enforcement with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Safety Management System (FSMS) Development & Maintenance
Assist in establishing, maintaining, and updating the company’s FSMS (e.g., HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO standards) and ensure alignment with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
Lead or support the documentation of food safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Support system upgrades and protocol revisions in response to audits, incidents, or process improvements.
2. Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) & Root Cause Analysis
Coordinate the investigation of non-conformances, customer complaints, audit findings, and process deviations.
Facilitate root cause analysis using structured methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram) to identify underlying issues.
Develop and track corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans, ensuring timely resolution and verification of effectiveness.
3. Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis
Conduct and update risk assessments and hazard analyses across the production processes, in accordance with HACCP principles.
Evaluate risks related to raw materials, processing steps, equipment, packaging, personnel hygiene, and environment.
Work collaboratively with departments to implement control measures and mitigation strategies.
4. Internal Audits & External Audit Readiness
Plan, execute, and document internal audits (GMP, hygiene, FSMS, traceability) in line with the audit schedule.
Participate in third-party and customer audits, ensuring readiness of documentation, site practices, and corrective action responses.
Maintain a strong audit trail and support continuous improvement initiatives based on audit outcomes.
5. Staff Training & Competency Building
Assist in designing and conducting training programs for new hires and existing staff on GMP, food safety policies, hygiene, allergen management, and emergency response.
Track training attendance and evaluate staff competency through periodic assessments and refresher sessions.
Promote food safety culture and awareness at all levels of the organization.
6. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
Analyse data from audits, inspections, and incident reports to identify areas for improvement.
Drive and monitor continuous improvement plans and quality initiatives.
7. Documentation & System Control
Maintain accurate and up-to-date SOPs, validation records, QA logs, and inspection checklists.
Ensure document traceability and data integrity.
8. Supplier & Raw Material Quality Management
Collaborate with the Purchasing team on supplier evaluation, raw material approval, and ongoing performance monitoring.
Participate in supplier audits, raw material risk assessments, and food fraud vulnerability assessments.
Implement Food Fraud and Food Defense mitigation strategies for the supply chain.
9. R&D and New Product Development (NPD) Support
Work with R&D to review raw materials, product formulations, and process changes.
Provide QA input during new product trials and shelf-life studies.
Ensure food safety and compliance requirements are integrated into all new launches.
10. QAQC Reporting & Management Reviews
Compile and analyse QAQC reports, including results from inspections, audits, GMP checks, product non-conformances, and microbiological testing.
Consolidate quarterly reports highlighting key food safety and quality KPIs, trends, and CAPA statuses.
Support the preparation and presentation of QAQC data for quarterly and annual Management Review Meetings, including summaries of system performance, risk analysis, supplier quality, customer feedback, and improvement plans.
Job Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
At least 2 - 3 years of experience in QA roles within a food manufacturing environment.
Sound knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO/FSSC 22000, food safety regulations, and documentation control.
Experience in supplier quality management, raw material evaluation, and food fraud prevention is an advantage.
Proficiency in internal audits, CAPA management, and root cause analysis methodologies.
Strong coordination and communication skills to engage effectively with internal departments (Purchasing, R&D, Production).
Detail-oriented with good data analysis and reporting abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and QA management systems/software.
