Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for testing raw materials, process control, and finished products to ensure they conform to test methods, specifications, and the correct inspection plan, all in compliance with applicable laws and the Quality Management System. The individual's responsibilities towards EHSS (Environment, Health, Safety, and Security) standards include their own work as well as enforcing rules and procedures throughout the company.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
EHSS Compliance and Legislations
  • Engage in site EHSS activities and initiatives, e.g., timely completion of EHSS training, reporting safety observations and near misses, participating in Job Safety Analysis, supporting audits, correcting hazards and unsafe conditions, and supporting EHSS investigations.
  • Perform and maintain 5S activities and good housekeeping in the lab. Ensure the upkeep of the lab at all times.
  • Participate in risk assessments and investigations when needed.
Quality Control
  • Operate analytical equipment such as GC, GCMS, HPLC, FTIR spectrophotometer for analyzing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods as per test plans.
  • Ensure accurate data generation and entry of records into LIMS.
  • Verify incoming raw material quality according to established procedures and safety risk assessments.
  • Conduct chemical and physical properties analyses in accordance with SOPs and offer batch adjustments to the production team as required.
  • Record and organize testing records systematically for traceability.
  • Coordinate QC release for in-process and finished goods test results. Monitor test parameters to ensure process condition and specification compliance during routine QC releases.
  • Monitor control charts to identify the need for new standards or instrument maintenance.
  • Support the shift operation team by assisting in prioritizing testing to ensure swift responses to production needs and maintaining accurate product quality status.
  • Develop standard operating procedures in compliance with ISO9001:2015. Participate in timely safety risk assessments of lab operations.
  • Conduct calibration and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment functions correctly; troubleshoot issues when needed.
  • Ensure the safekeeping and tracking of laboratory inventories such as chemicals, reagents, solvents, apparatus, consumables, disposables, and spare parts.
  • Collaborate with QA, Production, Logistics, and EHS personnel to support laboratory testing and troubleshooting.
Analytical Testing
  • Possess knowledge of various operations and analytical techniques for interpreting material characterization using analytical instruments.
Analytical and Troubleshooting Mindset
  • Support laboratory root cause investigations for equipment failure and abnormal results. Initiate preparation and analysis of unusual test results to identify causes of non-conformance and implement corrections.
  • Use statistical tools to interpret data effectively.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process Technology, Bioscience, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably with chemical wet laboratory operations.
  • Experience and knowledge of analytical and wet lab equipment maintenance/operation and result analysis.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and test methods.
  • Experience with analytical and chromatographic equipment and material characterization aligned with product specifications and process control.
  • Experience in plastic color matching and control is an added advantage.
  • Ability to understand lab software such as LIMS and Excel.
  • Relevant manufacturing environment experience, working with control tools like LIMS and SAP, is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and write SOPs, work instructions, reports, forms, and perform risk assessments.
  • Experience with SAP QM for QA data updates and releases.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to perform rotating shift work.
