Job summary

BAH Partners in Singapore is seeking a Desk Developer (Python) to work closely with Portfolio Managers and Analysts, building data-driven research and investment tools. The role emphasizes Python development for data ingestion, analytics, and lightweight UI solutions, with opportunities to apply AI tooling and LLMs to enhance research workflows and decisions.

Experience in commodities or financial markets is valued but not essential; Mandarin is highly preferred, though non-Mandarin speakers

Desk Developer (Python) – Commodities | Hedge Fund | Singapore

This is a highly business-facing role, sitting directly alongside Portfolio Managers and Analysts and building technology that has a direct impact on research and investment decisions.

The role:

• Work extensively with Python, with the role working on the desk with the business
• Build data ingestion, research and analytics platforms used by the investment team
• Develop internal tools and lightweight UI solutions, taking ideas from research through to production
• Apply LLMs and AI toolingto improve research workflows and how the desk works with data
• Partner closely with PMs and Analysts in a fast-moving, highly commercial environment

The profile:

• Advancing programming skills in Python
• Commercially minded and comfortable working directly with investment professionals
• Able to operate with ambiguity and take ownership of problems end-to-end
• Commodities or financial markets experience is advantageous, but not essential
• Mandarin is highly preferred given the composition of the wider team, although non-Mandarin speakers will be considered
• Must have direct experience (~3-15 years of experience) as a Python or Quantitative Developer
