About the role

Our Consulting Services department supports over 500 academic institutions through the initial onboarding of Digital Commons and provides ongoing customer support and training to help our customers maximize the use and benefits of our products/services. For the Publishing Consultant, this includes a specialization in the setup, launch, and support of academic journals and adjacent scholarship. Based in APAC, the consultant will provide support during local business hours in both fluent Mandarin and English.

The Publishing Consultant is a dynamic entry-level position for someone who wants to learn and grow in the field of higher education scholarship. Digital Commons is the leading hosted repository platform for the publication and dissemination of scholarly work which allows faculty, researchers, healthcare practitioners, and students to publish, manage and showcase their work while providing detailed analytics showing the impact of their work in the research community. Responsibilities

  1. Welcoming new clients aboard, and guiding them with building Digital Commons repositories and publications to their specifications.
  2. Collaborating with university faculty and librarians to launch new projects in their repositories, guide them in best practices in publishing, and troubleshoot unusual problems.
  3. Forging strong professional relationships with our clients and providing timely advice on issues affecting digital libraries and academic publishing.
  4. Training clients (usually remotely) to help them use and customize our templated systems.
  5. Working closely with the Strategic Adviser to provide your clients with comprehensive, well-informed support for all their repository and publishing needs.
  6. Providing general assistance to the team as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, filing feature requests, product testing, HTML/PDF editing, uploading content, and providing feedback to help streamline or expand our services as our growing business requires.

Requirements

  1. We seek Mandarin speaking candidates who are required to serve Mandarin-speaking clients.
  2. Bachelor's degree or higher highly preferred.
  3. 3+ years in a customer-facing role.
  4. Experience using Editorial Manager or Digital Commons to manage unpublished submissions.
  5. Strong familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  6. Basic CSS/HTML.
  7. Familiarity with XML and working with APIs.
  8. Familiarity with academic publishing, library sciences, and university culture are BIG pluses.
  9. History of working collaboratively on a team, both providing and soliciting advice and assistance.
