Job summary

A leading engineering company specializing in the design and build of process utility systems is seeking a Procurement Specialist. The role involves sourcing, negotiating vendor contracts, and managing materials for various projects in industries including semiconductor and pharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in engineering or supply chain management, strong negotiation skills, and at least 3-5 years of procurement experience.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in engineering industry preferred.
  • Experience in piping and structural materials will have an advantage.
  • Independent, self-driven, and able to travel overseas if required.

  • Source materials, services, and vendors; negotiate pricing and terms.
  • Manage daily operational purchasing and coordinate materials for projects.
  • Perform quality audits and support cost reduction programs.

Job description

Specialising in Design & Build of process utility systems, prefabrication/ DFMA, facility & plant maintenance and construction implementation, we take pride and passion in all that we do.

  1. Source for materials, services and vendors; Obtain and review quotes; added advantage for international sourcing experience.
  2. Negotiate with external vendors on pricing, scope & other contractual terms with proven track record.
  3. In charge of daily operational purchasing such as planning, issuing and follow up on purchase orders, delivery and schedules.
  4. Perform quality audits and control deliveries on a case-by-case basis.
  5. Involved in engineering changes regarding components, products and/or engineering & production processes. Follow up on any corrective actions regarding material and process-improvement.
  6. Work with existing or new vendor to lower materials cost through value engineering, reverse engineering, new design, alternative substitution, or relaxing of tolerance or standard of the materials.
  7. Support cost reduction programs for new and existing projects.
  8. Monitor inventory for consumable and purchase material when required.
  9. Manage and coordinate purchase material for various project.
  10. Vendor qualification and evaluation
  11. Support on tender by providing material cost
  12. Keeping proper record of material costing and documents filing.
  13. Ad-hoc job assigned by line manager.

Requirements:

  • Candidates possess at least Diploma in Engineering or Supply chain management is preferred
  • Required skills : Ms Office (Excel, Words)
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in engineering industry is preferred
  • Experience in Piping, structural material purchase will be an advantage.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Independent, self driven and pro-active attitude with an eye for details.
  • Able to travel oversea if required.
