Job description
Position: Project Engineer- Marine/Shipbuilding
Location: Near Jurong East MRT
Working hours: 5 days (Monday- Friday 9.00am-6.00pm)
Salary (commensurate with experience): Up to $6200 + AWS + 14 days annual leave
Duration: Permanent

Main Responsibilities
Take ownership of shipbuilding projects from conception through to delivery.
Lead project planning, execution, and closure, ensuring the project meets objectives related to scope, quality, budget, and schedule.
Collaborate with naval architects and engineers to refine and validate ship designs.
Ensure all technical specifications are met, maintaining a focus on innovation, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Serve as the primary liaison for internal teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Drive clear and consistent communication to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Establish and maintain detailed project budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control. Identify cost-saving opportunities and proactively manage financial risks to stay within budget.
Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, classification society standards (e.g., ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd’s Register), and quality control procedures.
Maintain rigorous oversight of all construction activities to meet or exceed industry standards.
Proactively identify and assess project risks (e.g., delays, resource constraints, quality concerns), developing and implementing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
Manage the timely procurement of critical materials and equipment, ensuring a seamless supply chain and preventing project delays.
Maintain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
Develop and manage detailed project schedules, tracking milestones and deadlines.
Adjust timelines as necessary, ensuring that key deliverables are met on time without compromising quality.
Troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues, providing innovative solutions to ensure smooth project execution. Maintain a proactive approach to resolving challenges quickly and effectively.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, performance-driven environment.
Provide guidance, training, and support to junior team members to ensure professional growth.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including design reviews, meeting notes, reports, and regulatory compliance records.
Provide regular progress updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Preferably with experience in marine shipbuilding projects.
Experience in any of the following fields is an advantage:
Hull and Outfitting
Mechanical and Machinery
Electrical and Instrumentation
Painting and Coating
Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in marine shipbuilding project engineering or a related field.
