Job description

Main Purpose of the Job

Ensure design, implementation and start-up phases of capital investment projects on the manufacturing site, following the investment project charter, design specifications and Nestlé standards.


Lead the governance routine for investment projects and support area engineer on NIMT management and Fixed Asset management , Manage end to end investment project flow at site from proposal prepartion till handover to operation


Key Output

  • Before starting the project design phase: Support the End to End Project Manager and Project Engineering Manager in developing the investment project charter and see to it that it is strictly followed throughout the project.
  • During project design phase: Based on: Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, the Nestlé standards, the local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications, the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability and reliability) and, on top of all the previous, the workers safety during both, the construction and the further operation of the plant, execute the basic design and then the detailed design.
  • During the project implementation phase: Get the engineering side of the project implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment erections, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the URS and the characteristics of a unit operation, all the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and a vertical start-up is assured. Select and qualify contractors and coordinate their activities. Ensure that the Nestlé standards are applied. Promote development of environment-friendly and sustainable solutions
  • During the start-up phase of the project: Support the start-up manager and her/his team, to assure a smooth transition to operations, after the qualification and the verification of the installation have been finalized. Support in preparing and distributing the project documentation of engineering, including the engineering part of the project final report and provide feedback to the Maintenance Prevention System.
  • During the whole project life: Promote development of environmental-friendly and sustainable solutions. Mobilize resources (internal & external)

Key Experiences

  • Manufacturing projects management (”making it happen”): 3 years experience in capital investment projects development and implementation in food industry.
  • Determination of methods to minimize the likelihood of injuries or damages to people and/or equipment (SH&E)
  • Factory operations (as required)

Key Knowledge
1. Core knowledge of the 10 Principles and expert knowledge in our areas of responsibility.
2. Project management accreditation (HD): [ Technical Instructions & Guidelines Management System ; Sound understanding of contracts, construction law and permitting requirements; certification] 3. Engineering and Manufacturing (D): Nestlé Engineering Activities (GI 00.900), including Toolkit (NEMT, NSAT, etc); Project Engineering; Plant Design and Construction, and CAPEX cycle (budget preparation and project justification in CIAT, AMM PS); Understanding of Electricity, Control and Automation. Including MES; Nestlé proprietary technology; Maintenance and Projects Management and Planning, including TPM, CDM, AMM (decision support and reporting tools), Hexaplan, MS Project; Innovation & Renovation process
4. Nestlé Leadership Principles and Group organization (HD): Nestlé Management & Leadership Principles, Nestlé on the Move, Nestlé Leadership Framework and Nestle Corporate Business Principles
5. Degree/Diploma in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, E&A, Process, Industrial engineering, or similar)
6. Nestlé product and process technologies - with PTC & Factories experience (D)
7. Financial and budget analysis and tracking (D): [Thorough understanding of Costing Guidelines and Finance & Accounting principles]

8. Food plant principles and hygienic engineering (D): [Food processing plants and technologies (Maintenance and Utilities), food safety, hygienic engineering ]
9. Nestlé SHE standards (D)
