Job summary

CONSTRUCT PEOPLE PTE LTD is seeking a Project Director to provide overall leadership and strategic direction for private industrial construction projects. You will ensure delivery within time, cost, quality, and safety, while managing senior stakeholders, risk and commercial aspects from tender to handover.

You will lead project teams, guide Project Managers, and drive programme recovery, cost control and governance, with a focus on high-quality outcomes and sustainable project performance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project progress, cost and profitability; identify risks and mitigation actions.
• Promote high standards of construction quality and safety; address defects and non-conformances.
• Support tender submissions with constructability reviews and risk assessments.
• Oversee subcontractors and suppliers to meet programme and cost targets.
• Plan and develop project manpower; mentor project managers and team members.
• Oversee project close-out, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Measure performance across delivery, cost, quality, customer satisfaction, and governance.

Our client is looking for a project director:

Purpose

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for assigned private industrial construction projects, ensuring successful delivery within the required time, cost, quality, safety and contractual requirements. The Project Director is also responsible for senior stakeholder management, project risk and commercial oversight, tender support, manpower planning, and providing leadership to project teams to achieve the company's business and project objectives.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Project Leadership

• Provide overall direction and leadership for assigned projects from tender/pre-construction through to completion and handover.
• Ensure projects are delivered according to approved programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to Project Managers and project teams.

Industrial Project & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and maintain effective relationships with private industrial clients, developers, consultants, authorities and key stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory requirements and project specifications.
• Manage and resolve major project issues and escalated matters.

Programme, Cost & Risk Management

• Monitor overall project progress, cost and project profitability.
• Identify key project risks and implement timely mitigation measures.
• Drive recovery actions for programme delays and cost issues.

Quality & Safety

• Provide leadership in maintaining high standards of construction quality and WSH performance.
• Ensure defects, non-conformances and safety issues are addressed promptly.

Tender & Pre-Construction Support

• Support tender submissions for private industrial projects through constructability review, construction methodology, programme, resource planning and risk assessment.
• Provide project experience and lessons learned to strengthen tender strategy and pricing.

Subcontractor & Supplier Management

• Oversee the performance of key subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure their performance meets project requirements for programme, quality, safety and cost.

Manpower & Team Development

• Plan and manage project manpower and resources according to project requirements.
• Develop and mentor Project Managers and key project personnel.
• Support succession planning and build a strong project management team.

Project Completion & Handover

• Oversee timely completion, testing, commissioning, defect rectification and handover.
• Ensure proper project close-out, documentation and final account completion.
