Job description

Work Locations

  • APSN Student Care Centre (Ang Mo Kio)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the activities of special needs students and/or children in the Centre.
  2. Supervise and engage students actively during the SCC operating hours.
  3. Assist in maintaining the SCC facility.
  4. Work with the Centre Supervisor for smooth operations of the Centre.
  5. Assist the Supervisor and management in meeting student enrolment targets and profit goals.
  6. Support children in their SPED academic, social, personal hygiene, music, art, and motor skills to promote their physical, mental, and social development.
  7. Conduct weekly inspections of the premises to ensure compliance with APSN/regulatory (MSF) requirements.
  8. Recommend instructional materials and teaching aids needed for teaching students.
  9. Ensure food is administered to students in accordance with proper food handling and hygiene practices as per HACCP requirements.
  10. Ensure the safety and well-being of each child.
  11. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluate their progress.
  12. Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun.
  13. Assist the Centre Supervisor with student enrolment, expenses, manpower, and operations.
  14. Engage children under the Centre's care and perform classroom-teaching duties according to the APSN curriculum.
  15. Report to school leaders on SCC matters, in accordance with Ministry of Education requirements.
  16. Collaborate with parents/teaching staff regarding student behavioral or learning problems, recommending methods to modify inappropriate behavior and encourage learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma with 1-3 years of relevant working experience in the social service sector. Entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.
  • Preferably a candidate with a Diploma in community and social services (or any equivalent or higher certification).
  • WSQ certification is an added advantage (WSQ Introductory Student Care Centre).
  • Certification in First Aid (CPR & AED) and WSQ Basic Food Hygiene is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
