Job description

Organisation Overview:

City Sprouts is a social enterprise with a vision to inspire communities through sprouting green spaces and programmes. Through placemaking, education, and community engagement, we aim to transform the way people connect with food, nature, and one another. We believe in the adaptive reuse of spaces and adopt an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to create sustainable, community-driven solutions.

Our flagship sites include the reimagined former Henderson Secondary School, a rooftop oasis at Sky Sprouts, green roofs and container structures in Punggol, an activated field in West Coast Park, and our latest sustainability hub in the former Loyang Primary School at Pasir Ris.

Join us in cultivating not just plants, but also people, purpose, and possibilities.

Role Summary:

City Sprouts is on a mission to reconnect individuals with nature through meaningful, hands-on experiences. As a Programme Coordinator (or Senior Programme Coordinator), you will play a key role in shaping and delivering educational and community programmes that promote sustainability, urban farming, and ecological literacy.

This role requires someone with practical gardening or farming know-how, combined with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences. If you enjoy working with plants and people, and thrive in outdoor, community-driven environments, we’d love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement a range of on-site and off-site programmes, including farm tours, gardening workshops, school programmes, and community events.
  • Lead or co-facilitate sessions that focus on sustainability topics such as composting, food growing, biodiversity, and waste reduction.
  • Support the design and maintenance of edible gardens, learning plots, and farm demonstration areas across City Sprouts sites.
  • Prepare programme materials and manage logistics, including scheduling, setup/teardown, and liaising with vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Support documentation and evaluation through photos, feedback collection, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to co-create new green learning experiences and improve existing programmes.
  • Represent City Sprouts at public activations, school engagements, and stakeholder events.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • You have a genuine passion for sustainability and green living, especially in the areas of food growing, regenerative practices, and ecological education.
  • You bring hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of gardening, farming, or horticulture (formal training a plus, but not required).
  • You’re confident speaking to a range of audiences (kids, adults, educators), and can facilitate engaging, interactive learning experiences.
  • You’re proactive, adaptable, and organised—with the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to real-time needs on the ground.
  • You're comfortable working outdoors in varied weather and love being surrounded by plants and soil.
  • Experience in education, events, youth engagement, or environmental NGOs is a plus.
  • Willingness to work on weekends/public holidays when needed for programmes.
  • Immediate or short notice availability preferred.
