Job summary

YAMAZAKI MAZAK SINGAPORE PTE LTD is seeking a Production Planner to translate the Master Production Schedule into detailed weekly and daily production plans. You will plan and sequence orders based on priorities, capacity, and material availability, while monitoring progress to meet committed timelines.

You will coordinate with Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Logistics to resolve issues, track shortages, and maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in production planning, production control, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • Practical experience in a manufacturing environment with complex equipment or engineered products.
  • Good understanding of production planning, MRP, material requirements, inventory control, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and maintaining production planning data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential production or material issues early.
  • Able to work across Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Logistics with good coordination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Support the translation of the approved Master Production Schedule (MPS) into detailed weekly and daily production plans.
  • Plan and sequence production orders based on delivery priorities, production capacity, material availability, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor production progress and schedule adherence to ensure machines are completed according to committed timelines.
  • Check material readiness prior to production release and identify shortages or potential supply constraints that may affect the production schedule.
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Engineering, D&D, Quality, Warehouse, and Logistics to align requirements and address execution issues.
  • Track material shortages, delayed components, supplier issues, quality problems, rework, turn backs, and disruptions affecting the production plan.
  • Maintain accurate production planning information and update ERP/MRP systems, schedules, trackers, and reports.
  • Review production status regularly and highlight delays, capacity constraints, material risks, or other exceptions to the Production Control Manager for escalation and recovery.
  • Follow up on outstanding actions and ensure timely updates on production-critical issues.
  • Coordinate production completion, machine collection, shipment readiness, and delivery requirements against the planned schedule.
  • Support changes to production priorities arising from customer requirements, material availability, engineering changes, or operational constraints.
  • Work closely with Procurement and Warehouse to monitor incoming materials and ensure critical components are available according to production requirements.
  • Support inventory control by identifying excess, shortage, obsolete, or incorrectly allocated materials affecting production.
  • Prepare and maintain production planning reports, including schedule status, shortages, outstanding issues, and delivery risks.
  • Support NCR and root-cause investigations relating to planning, material availability, material issuance, or production execution issues.
  • Participate in production planning and daily operational meetings, providing clear updates on production status and potential risks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, material readiness, schedule adherence, and overall production flow.
  • Provide planning coverage and support to other planners during periods of absence or high production demand.
  • Perform other production planning and control duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential production or material issues early.
  • Able to work effectively across Production, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Logistics functions.
  • Good follow-up and coordination skills with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Able to manage multiple production priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Resourceful, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles would be an advantage.
