Job summary

PPG is seeking a color matching and quality control specialist in Singapore to ensure coatings meet color and performance standards. You will establish formulae using spectrophotometer or color match techniques, blend and spray color matches, and perform corrections.

You will maintain color standards, participate in CMAG, be ASC SEA focal point for on color software, and support calibrations and 5S housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of color development and color matching processes.
• Ability to interpret product formulae and blend accurately.
• Experience with spectrophotometer-based color measurement.

Responsibilities

• Match and verify coating color against standards.
• Establish formulae using spectrophotometer and adjust blends.
• Identify and correct color shifts and color-related issues.
• Prepare production batches per approved formulae.
• Maintain global color standards and CMAG involvement.
• Act as ASC SEA focal point for the software "on color" and support color KPIs.

Job description

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the color matching and quality checks of various coatings products.
• The incumbent will establish the formulae using a spectrophotometer or color match techniques, blend and spray the color match and perform corrections.
• Have the ability to identify and correct color shifts and associated color problems. The formulae will be scaled up for production.
• Other tests required will include tests on activators and solvents as determined by the QC card.
• Carried out production batch for coatings as per the approved formulae.
• The incumbent will participate, liaise and contribute to the Color Management Action Group (CMAG). Have responsibility to manage and maintain the global color standards (BMS, Federal, internal working copies etc).
• Be the focal point and color representative for ASC South East Asia (S.E.A). Have the responsibility to be ASC S.E.A's member/contact point for the software "on color". Support and manage the A/P regions color key.
• Other duties include preventive maintenance, managing calibrations log for lab equipment, and maintaining a 5S housekeeping program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and adherence to PPG policies with respect to EHS.
• Understand of processes and procedures involved in color development and color matching
• Good understanding and ability to interpret product formulae.
• Accuracy in blending product formulae.
• Adherence to maintenance schedules for coatings laboratory equipment.
• Liaison with Production Supervisor with respect to production schedules.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivation and self-starting
• Working knowledge of color spectrophotometer.
• Able to read measuring equipment.
