Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and establish a group of engineers to establish pilot production line and associated operations, tools, MES system from scratch.
Establish pilot production line key performance indices and report out status on a periodic basis to key stakeholders.
Responsible for day-to-day management and operations of pilot production line and resources including manpower, tools, systems to ensure uptime, wafer runs are meeting requirements.
Lead and manage forecast/demand planning, production schedule run and capacity in pilot production line to ensure meeting demand, outputs and timeline.
Ensure processes and test vehicles developed from R&D are successfully transferred to pilot production line.
Lead and manage productivity improvement efforts in existing line and future line to identify gaps and drive actions to close them.
Lead yield management and improvement efforts to ensure meeting targets in terms of wafer/lot/line yield.
Material, Equipment Selection and Procurement: Working with material, equipment engineers, and vendors to select and procure the necessary tools and equipment for the fab. This involves evaluating equipment specifications, negotiating contracts, managing the procurement process, and overseeing the installation and setup of the equipment.
Process Development and Optimization: Coordinating with process engineers to develop and optimize the manufacturing processes for the new fab. This includes understanding the device requirements, conducting experiments, making process adjustments, and ensuring the desired performance and yield are achieved.
Production Planning and Scheduling: Developing production plans and schedules to optimize fab utilization and meet customer demand. This involves analyzing capacity, prioritizing orders, coordinating with supply chain teams, and ensuring efficient production flow.
Quality Assurance and Control: Implementing quality management systems and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable manufacturing. This includes establishing quality control measures, conducting inspections and audits, and implementing corrective actions to address any quality issues.
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. This involves implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, providing employee training, and maintaining documentation to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
Continuous Improvement: Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fab operation efficiency, productivity, and quality. This involves analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, implementing process optimizations, and fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
Team Management and Leadership: Building and leading a skilled team of engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure smooth fab operation. This includes recruiting and training personnel, setting performance goals, providing guidance and support, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, equipment engineers, supply chain, and customer support teams, to ensure effective collaboration, alignment, and communication throughout the fab operation.
Requirements
At least 10 to 15 years of semiconductor wafer fab production experience.
Strong organization, management, and communication skills with attention to detail.
Experience in people and team management is essential.
Experience in setting up pilot production from scratch or transferring technology from site to site and ramping from pilot to production is advantageous.
Experience in managing multiple projects within scope, budget, and timeline with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Demonstrated ability and experience to work, solve complex problems, and drive projects to completion.
Minimum bachelor’s degree in STEM disciplines e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering.
