Job summary

VDL Enabling Technologies Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd is seeking a Production Improvement Engineer to optimize production processes, ensure quality, and manage resources to meet targets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, implement continuous improvement, and drive cost-saving measures.

The role requires hands-on leadership in 8D problem-solving, training operators, and developing clear procedures while maintaining safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Precision or Industrial Engineering).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, automation, and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, robotics, polishing, welding).
  • Knowledge of automation solutions and digital tools.
  • Knowledge of OEE metrics and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Experience with 8D problem-solving methodology and CAPA implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and participate in improvement projects.
  • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of training development and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production performance, track OEE metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Optimize shop floor layout, material flow, and equipment relocation to improve efficiency.
  • Improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality through process improvements and automation.
  • Lead 8D projects, drive structured problem-solving initiatives, and implement corrective actions.
  • Track and manage consumable tools and inventory levels, optimise stock levels.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure timely delivery and pricing.
  • Ensure safety compliance, conduct safety audits, and address operator concerns.
  • Provide technical support to operators, resolve issues, and develop procedures.
  • Design and implement automated workflows to minimize human intervention.
  • Identify training needs, develop targeted training programmes, and document outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex production issues and share knowledge.
  • Plan and allocate resources to meet production targets and identify bottlenecks.
  • Lead improvement projects and track cost-reduction savings.
  • Maintain documentation of process changes and tooling updates.

Purpose: Responsible for optimizing production processes, ensuring quality control, and managing resources to meet production targets.   • Provide technical support to operators, resolve issues, and develop clear procedures.
  • Design and implement automated workflows, minimise human intervention, and ensure seamless machine operations.
