Job summary

A leading company in the fintech space is looking for an experienced professional to manage business operations of credit cards. The ideal candidate will oversee P&L ownership, drive revenue growth, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure compliance with regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills and a robust background in retail banking or fintech with at least 8 years of experience.

Job description

Business Knowledge and P&L Ownership : Deep understanding of cards is required with focus on business management of cards, management of end-to-end P&L including revenue, costs, and risk metrics. Drive revenue growth through initiatives focussing on new customer acquisition, cross-sell, activation, usage, and retention initiatives

Product Creation : Participate in new product development and new initiatives with end to end exposure from delivery planning, P&L forecast, requirement scoping, card scheme negotiation, risk clearance, product commercialization and coordination work with different stakeholders to ensure a smooth project delivery to achieve the business goals

Analytics and Reporting : Analyze card transaction trends to identify improvement opportunities and generate actionable insights for decision-making and optimization

Financial Planning : Manage budget allocation for card operations and maintain projections of card P&L to ensure sound financial planning

Risk Management : Work closely with risk management function to establish and maintain a robust risk management framework for credit cards for mitigating credit risk, operational risk, and regulatory risk

External Stakeholder Management:Oversee commercial and legal contracts with existing and prospective partners and manage relationships with existing service providers to ensure service level agreements are met and identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction. Manage relationships with card schemes and existing partners.

Partnerships and Alliances : Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with card networks , fintechs, co-brand partners, merchants, and loyalty platforms. Structure reward programs, activation campaigns, and usage-linked promotions to drive engagement.

Stakeholder Communication : Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing updates, insights, and recommendations related to card business operations, strategy and feature enhancements

Regulatory & Compliance Adherence : Stay informed about regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to payments and card operations. Be adept in card related documentation as driven by internal and external compliance requirements. Work closely with credit risk, operations, and compliance teams to maintain portfolio quality and ensure regulatory compliance.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement : Explore new opportunities for innovation, efficiency gains, and enhanced customer value by benchmarking against market-leading issuers and fintechs

Job Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in retail banking, fintech, or payments, with significant exposure to the cards business
  • Strong academic background with a Bachelor's degree
  • Strong understanding of card lifecycle, digital product development, and analytics
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to problem solving with focus on attention to details
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience launching co-branded or digital-first credit cards is preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships with senior management
  • Experience with credit risk models, key P&L drivers and risk management is preferred but not mandatory
  • Confident, independent, self-driven and highly motivated individual who can work well in a fast paced environment
  • Familiarity with MAS regulations related to cards and payments
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
