Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a Product Manager to lead AI safety initiatives across government programs. You will own product areas from evaluation to runtime safeguards, ensuring responsible AI use and measurable risk controls.

You will translate policy directions into executable requirements, collaborate with engineers and policy teams, and drive delivery with independence and strategic impact across the AI programme.

About the Role

AI is being adopted across government at pace — and with that comes real risk. Models hallucinate. Prompts get injected. Outputs can be unsafe. And AI-generated media is getting harder to spot and easier to produce at scale.

We’re looking for a product manager to contribute to our work in making AI safer and more accountable across government. You’ll be part of AssuranceAI — the AI Programme’s function focused on AI behaviour and AI risk — and you’ll own an assigned product area spanning evaluation, runtime safeguards, assurance reporting, and AI manipulation detection.

You’ll work within a team led by a lead product manager, and you’ll be expected to operate with a high degree of independence within your scope. This means getting into the details with engineers and policy teams, translating direction into concrete requirements, and seeing things through to delivery.

What you will be working on

• AI Evaluation
• Execute on the product roadmap for AI evaluation — covering groundedness, citation quality, safety and adversarial testing, and regression evaluation.
• Work with engineering to build and maintain reusable evaluation sets that product teams across the AI Programme can rely on, reducing duplicated effort.
• Use AI observability data to support groundedness evaluation, unsafe output analysis, and AI risk reporting.
• Runtime Safeguards
• Contribute to the development of runtime safeguarding capabilities — including unsafe prompt and output detection, sensitive-content controls, prompt-injection indicators, and policy-based AI controls.
• Work with engineering to embed safeguards into development workflows, following the assurance-by-design approach established by the team.
• Support real-time monitoring for model drift, unsafe outputs, and prompt-injection attempts — flagging issues and working with engineering to resolve them.
• Assurance Reporting
• Maintain and improve AI assurance reporting — evaluation history, risk and remediation records, and assurance status — contributing to the team’s overall view of AI risk posture.
• Track and report on defined KPIs: evaluation coverage, guardrail efficacy, mean time to detect vulnerabilities, and policy coverage.
• AI Manipulation and Online Safety
• Execute on the product roadmap for a whole-of-government platform that benchmarks and integrates AI detection solutions across image, video, and audio.
• Support continuous evaluation as the deepfake threat landscape evolves — gathering performance data, surfacing findings, and contributing to decisions on which detection capabilities to onboard, refresh, or retire.
• Work with capability developers and partner agencies to keep the platform operationally effective as a shared government service.
• Participate in the Community of Practice across government — sharing benchmarking lessons, datasets, and evaluation insights.
• Translating Policy into Product
• Translate defined policy direction and requirements into concrete product specifications, evaluation criteria, and platform features.
• Work with the AI Practice to keep teams current on the evolving AI risk and vulnerability landscape, and contribute to playbooks and guidance materials.

What we are looking for

• Product experience — You’ve owned products or feature areas end-to-end and know what it takes to ship things that actually work for users.
• AI domain curiosity — You don’t need to be an AI safety expert on day one, but you should be genuinely interested in AI risk, evaluation, safeguards, or online safety — and willing to go deep quickly.
• Analytical approach — You’re at ease working with evaluation metrics, benchmarking results, and usage data to make decisions. You test assumptions before committing to development and use evidence to navigate trade-offs.
• Policy-to-product translation — You can read policy direction and translate it into something concrete — requirements, features, platform decisions.
• Stakeholder range — You can work effectively with engineers, agency users, capability developers, and policy teams — and keep them aligned without losing momentum.
• Execution discipline — You’re organised, proactive, and can manage multiple workstreams without dropping the ball.
