Job summary
The procurement engineer is responsible for the procurement, allocation, and logistics function to ensure timely delivery to support various inter-departments, including production and sales. This position bridges technical specifications with strategic procurement, while also managing the logistics and flow of materials to support project and production needs.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier management:
- Review technical drawings/specifications and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure supplier compliance.
- Consistent engagement with key suppliers to keep up to date with market trends.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure best value proposition.
- Monitor supplier performance (e.g., quality, on-time delivery and costs).
- Resolve issues related to non-conformance, delivery delays, or supply disruptions.
Material planning:
- Allocate material across multiple production jobs/projects based on demand forecasts.
- Ensure optimal material availability by monitoring stock levels, lead times, and consumption forecasts.
- Collaborate with sales, planning and production teams to align material flow against schedules.
Logistics coordination:
- Coordinate material deliveries to ensure just-in-time availability for manufacturing or installation.
- Ensure documentation compliance (e.g., packing lists, certificates, HS codes, Incoterms).
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or related field from an established university.
- Fresh engineering graduates are welcome to apply.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and material specifications.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent time management abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented and pro-active. Team-player with continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience with ERP systems, proficient with excel and other analytical tools will be an added advantage.
