Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this position will lead and manage critical, high-spending procurement categories essential for ship operations. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing robust category strategies that impact annual spending. Additionally, the position will drive key innovation projects to enhance procurement efficiency and maximize value.

Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the strategic sourcing of new suppliers and service providers, expanding our network and capabilities.
  • Drive high-stakes negotiations for all procurement contracts and agreements, ensuring optimal terms and value. Deliver proactive market intelligence on designated categories, analyzing demand, monitoring trends, and identifying emerging developments.
  • Oversee direct on-site supplier audits and comprehensive performance reviews, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
  • Conduct in-depth market analyses of commodities and price trends to uncover and realize significant cost-saving opportunities.
  • Cultivate and strengthen key supplier relationships to secure tangible results and foster long-term partnerships
  • Monitor and optimize procurement budgets, ensuring fiscal efficiency and accountability
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to assess and anticipate future business needs and requirements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand the business strategy and translate into strategic procurement objectives that are specific and actionable
  • Developing long-term roadmap that leverages on various supplier models, sourcing levers, innovation initiatives, supplier development etc.
  • Use tools such as spend analysis, supplier performance reviews, risk assessments, market intelligence platforms to provide a data driven approach to decision-making
  • Setting strategic goals for the category, such as optimizing total cost of ownership, improving supplier resilience, enhancing ESG performance
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience as purchaser with a Ship Owner or Ship Manager and at least 8 years of Category Management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in Procurement
  • Minimum Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics/Purchasing Management or any related disciplines
  • Deep knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology, category management & supplier management.
  • High sense of integrity and resourcefulness
  • Good communication skills – written and spoken English
  • Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Attention to details and ability to meet deadlines

Travel

  • Based in Singapore, the candidate is expected to be able to visit their assigned vendors locally or overseas as required
