Job summary

CES_SALCON PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a Process Engineer to lead the design of water and wastewater facilities, including preliminary and detailed process/mechanical design, equipment sizing, PFDs and P&IDs.

You will validate technologies with OEMs, prepare documentation and collaborate with BIM for 3D model development. The role requires a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, 3+ years in water/wastewater, proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit/AFT Fathom, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized university.
• Minimum 3 years work experience in water/wastewater or related fields with strong process and mechanical design knowledge.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, AFT Fathom or similar.
• Familiar with process and mechanical design codes and standards (Singapore, EN, ASME, PED).
• Excellent coordination and English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary and detailed process and mechanical design for water and wastewater plants, offsites, utilities and pollution abatement; include calculations, layouts and material selection.
• Review standards, specifications, drawings, tenders and proposals.
• Develop process design packages: heat & mass balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing; define instrumentation and control philosophy.
• Collaborate with OEMs/vendors to validate technologies and drive value engineering.
• Prepare equipment lists, line lists, load lists, data sheets and drawings for submission.
• Coordinate with BIM team for 3D model development and ensure model aligns with design.
• Prepare mechanical requisitions ensuring procurement meets specs and schedule.
• Conduct technical reviews of vendor proposals and submissions.
• Prepare submissions and liaise with stakeholders including client/project consultants for approvals.
• Coordinate with equipment/system vendors during construction, installation, commissioning and handover.
• Support during site activities; compile ITP/IP, as-built drawings and IOM manuals.
• Ensure compliance and assist on additional duties as required by design lead.

JOB SCOPE & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preliminary and detailed process & mechanical design of water & wastewater plant, offsites & utilities, pollution abatement, etc, including design calculation, equipment layout, pipe & support design, material selection, etc.
• Review engineering standards/specifications/drawings, tender, quotations and proposal documents.
• Develop process design packages: heat & mass balances; PFDs; P&IDs; process calculations, equipment sizing; define instrumentation and control philosophy with cause-and-effect matrices.
• Liaise with OEMs/vendors to validate technologies and recommend best-fit solutions based on performance, compliance, schedule, and total cost of ownership; drive technical clarifications and value engineering.
• Prepare documentation for submission and supporting project / sales team, such as equipment lists, line lists, valve list and load lists, equipment data sheets and drawings, as required.
• Collaborate with BIM team for 3D model development and ensure the model is according to design.
• Prepare mechanical equipment requisitions and to ensure that the items procured are in accordance with specifications and schedule to ensure timely delivery.
• Technical review of mechanical equipment/system vendors proposal and submission.
• Prepare technical submissions and work with design lead to liaise with stakeholders, not limited to client/project consultant for submission approval.
• Coordination with equipment/system vendors on mechanical design and installation work during project execution stage.
• Support during construction, installation, start-up, testing and commissioning, and handover activities.
• Compile/author ITP/IP, As Built drawings and IOM manuals; interface with multidisciplinary teams (C&S, Process, ICA, controls) and construction/site teams.
• Ensure compliance & perform any other duties as requested by design lead/ engineering management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized university.
• Minimum 3 years work experience, preferably in the water/wastewater industry, with good knowledge in process and mechanical design, hands on experience working in fast paced, diverse and multi-disciplined projects.
• Proficiency in project design software such AutoCAD, Revit, AFT Fathom, or other related design software/applications.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office software.

• Familiar with process & mechanical design code of practice and standards in Singapore, EN, ASME & PED.
• Excellent coordination skills and communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.
• Ability to uphold the use of standards and elevate issues in a timely fashion.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

WORK EXPERIENCES

• Process Engineer: More than 2 years in a similar scope, preferably in Oil & Gas, Power, or Water/Wastewater
• Senior Process Engineer: More than 5 years with demonstrated leadership in design reviews, HAZOP facilitation/close-out, vendor management and mentoring junior engineers.
