Process Engineer - Assembly Cable

Your Job

As a Process Engineer in the DataCom and Specialty Solutions Division, the primary purpose of this role is to focus on quality, yield, and productivity improvements. You will be responsible for the smooth introduction of new products to manufacturing, resolving issues that affect the production flow, and driving machine and process improvements. Additionally, you will work on enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Production Overall Equipment Effectiveness (POEE), supported by data analytics and strong knowledge of soldering processes.

Our Team

You will be part of the DataCom and Specialty Solutions Division, working closely with various departments, including design, manufacturing, and quality teams. Your role will involve collaboration with fabrication and machine vendors/suppliers to ensure efficient production processes. You will also supervise a team consisting of Engineers, Assistant Supervisors, Assistant Engineers, Specialists, and Technicians.

What You Will Do

1. Develop, optimize, and maintain soldering processes to improve production yield and efficiency.
2. Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions to address soldering defects such as cold solder joints, bridging, and voiding.
3. Ensure compliance with IPC and industry standards for high-quality soldering operations.
4. Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to refine soldering techniques for new product introductions (NPI).
5. Train and mentor operators and technicians on best soldering practices and equipment handling.
6. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
7. Support process improvements and troubleshooting in SMT and through-hole soldering.
8. Assist in the evaluation and selection of fluxes, solder pastes, and reflow profiles.
9. Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for soldering processes.
10. Work closely with the quality team to ensure defect-free soldering results.
11. Supervise Assistant Engineer or Specialist and develop continuous improvement of quality system to achieve agreed goals.
12. Be directly accountable for all quality and process-related problems at the assembly area for the products under your responsibility, championing or working with respective department representatives to address the issues within the given target deadline.
13. Provide production support to meet production plans set by PIC, addressing both in-house and vendor (possibly overseas) quality/process problems.
14. Involve in task force or small group activities such as TOPS and QIS teams.
15. Provide proper storage, control, and maintenance of documents within the department to ensure security and efficient retrieval of documents as well as conformance to stipulated regulations.
16. Maintain documentation control of process capability studies, process FMEA, SOP, Process Specification, OJT Task Analysis, training records, and production records in reference to TS16949 requirements.
17. Represent the department in customer, 3rd party, or internal audits related to documents and records control processes.
18. Keep track of all project deadlines and budgetary expenditures.
19. Be responsible for working with Automation, Product Design Engineer, QA, and Component Engineer on new products, ensuring release for manufacturing with full qualification.
20. Embark on productivity, quality, and cost reduction programs, machine and process improvements as needed.
21. Duplicate existing machines/fixtures if there is a requirement for capacity expansion.
22. Qualify all tooling releases for manufacturing.
23. Be responsible for equipment transfer from other entities, or transfer to other entities in terms of machine setup and smooth running of production with full qualification.
24. Coordinate with machine vendors for new machines involving robotics, control, software, or vision programming.
25. Work closely with all operations to improve quality levels.
26. Comply with PBM Guiding Principles for the job carried out under your responsibility.
27. Use data and translate them into information to improve processes (data analytics).
28. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

1. Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
2. Proficient in Soldering Process Development & Optimization, SMT, Wave, & Selective Soldering Techniques.
3. Knowledgeable in IPC Standards & Quality Control (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
4. Skilled in Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation.
5. Demonstrated expertise in Process Validation & Documentation, Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement, and Training & Mentoring Production Teams.
6. Strong process analytical skills with a focus on process yield improvement and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) reduction.
7. Experienced in Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting.
