Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 8.30am to 5.30pm
Responsibilities:
Develop, optimize, and maintain soldering processes to improve production yield and efficiency.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions to address soldering defects such as cold solder joints, bridging, and voiding.
Ensure compliance with IPC and industry standards for high-quality soldering operations.
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to refine soldering techniques for new product introductions (NPI).
Train and mentor operators and technicians on best soldering practices and equipment handling.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Support process improvements and troubleshooting in SMT and through-hole soldering.
Assist in the evaluation and selection of fluxes, solder pastes, and reflow profiles.
Develop work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for soldering processes.
Work closely with the quality team to ensure defect-free soldering results.
Supervise Assistant Engineer or Specialist and develop continuous improvement of quality systems to achieve agreed goals.
Be accountable for all quality and process-related problems in the assembly area for the products under responsibility, and work with respective department representatives to address issues within given target deadlines.
Provide production support to meet production plans set by PIC, addressing both in-house and vendor quality/process problems.
Involve in task force or small group activities such as TOPS and QIS teams.
Ensure proper storage, control, and maintenance of documents within the department for efficient retrieval and compliance with regulations, including maintaining a master listing for all controlled documents.
Maintain documentation control of process capability studies, process FMEA, SOPs, Process Specifications, OJT Task Analysis, training records, and production records in reference to TS16949 requirements.
Represent the department in customer, third-party, or internal audits related to documents and records control processes.
Keep track of all project deadlines and budgetary expenditures.
For new products, work with Automation, Product Design Engineer, QA, and Components Engineer to ensure the release for manufacturing with full qualification completed.
Embark on productivity, quality, and cost reduction programs, as well as machine and process improvements as needed.
Duplicate existing machines/fixtures if there is a requirement for capacity expansion.
Qualify all tooling released to manufacturing.
Manage equipment transfer from other entities or transfer to other entities in terms of machine setup and smooth running of production with full qualification.
Coordinate with machine vendors for new machines involving robotics, control, software, or vision programming.
Work closely with all operations to improve quality levels.
Comply with PBM Guiding Principles for the job carried out under responsibility.
Use data to improve processes through data analytics.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Proficient in Soldering Process Development & Optimization, SMT, Wave, & Selective Soldering Techniques.
Knowledgeable in IPC Standards & Quality Control (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
Skilled in Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation.
Demonstrated expertise in Process Validation & Documentation, Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement, and Training & Mentoring Production Teams.
Strong process analytical skills focused on process yield improvement and COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) reduction.
Experienced in Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting.
