Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

A Principal Engineer position that provides technical support for projects and manufacturing operations. This role is for someone with expertise in evaporator, dryer, and wet process technology in the region. Expertise in equipment design and troubleshooting is mandatory, while project execution knowledge is desired.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage and coordinate the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  2. Ensure completion of new product trials and commercial runs on time.
  3. Act as a liaison between product development, manufacturing, project management, and pilot plant teams.
  4. Participate in the Technical Review Process for new product introductions.
  5. Support regional projects in Asian & European sites as a technical lead.
  6. Support plant trials and first lot to stock batches of new and reformulated products by providing process flow diagrams, manufacturing direction reviews, and on-site troubleshooting.
  7. Perform analysis and feasibility studies related to project alternatives, reviewing proposed manufacturing scenarios early to determine manufacturability, cost, and schedule issues.
  8. Provide technical expertise through problem solving and troubleshooting to domestic and contract manufacturing operations.
  9. Anticipate future challenges and directions, benchmarking internally and externally to identify future problems and opportunities, and prepare accordingly.
  10. Identify, review, and assess process technologies that could reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance product quality, or protect intellectual property.
  11. Understand manufacturing challenges and de-bottleneck processes to improve OEE.
  12. Communicate effectively through reports, updates, and knowledge sharing.
  13. Support multiple projects, meeting deadlines and achieving project targets aligned with business objectives.
  14. Resolve manufacturing problems with rapid, technical decision-making and implementation.
  15. Lead the design and testing of new technologies, processing equipment changes, and capacity strategies.
  16. Partner with engineering and manufacturing leadership to ensure process systems meet product mix, quality, and standardization requirements.
Requirements
  • Technical background in nutritional and food manufacturing processes, emphasizing spray drying and evaporation.
  • Adaptable to various projects from engineering design to R&D.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to analyze test results and process information for solutions.
  • Preferred skills include MS Office, AutoCAD, process modeling/simulation, OSI PI Process Book, Qualtrend, LIMS, and QDMS.
  • Familiarity with food and infant formula regulations and standards.
  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Food/Dairy, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting process equipment.
  • Strong engineering process knowledge, organizational skills, and excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Good business and customer focus, with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in plant areas, including walking long distances, standing, climbing, and moving through tight spaces.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and materials related to industrial equipment.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in process equipment within the food, pharmaceutical, or consumer products industry.
