Job description

As a Private Bank Operations Lead in the Barclays’ Operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth of the Private Banking Business in Singapore with service delivery and oversight of the Private Banking Operations functions; effectively managing and maintaining processes, control and risk management and compliance with MAS regulations, sitting within Barclays Execution Services (BX), providing services to Private Bank and Wealth Management (PBWM).

You should possess an exceptionally strong understanding of Private Investment Banking, working and leading within an operations environment. You will have accountability for client lifecycle management, investment operations, and credit operations service performance. The role holder will be a Material Risk Personal (MRP) and therefore requires experience of Risk & Control frameworks. You will have direct line accountability for 4 operations colleagues. Fluency in Mandarin and/or Bahasa Indonesia will be a plus as the portfolio covers Greater China and Indonesia stakeholders, where language proficiency will help influence the function's direction, aligning with strategic and tactical priorities.

Purpose of the role

To manage operations within a business area, maintaining processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators.

Accountabilities
  1. Identify trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new processes through monitoring and analyzing operational data and performance metrics.
  2. Manage operations for a business area, promoting efficient processes, risk management, and compliance initiatives to support bank operations.
  3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (business leaders, project managers, SMEs) and external stakeholders (vendors, service providers) to support business operations and align with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  4. Manage operational professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance delivery quality.
  5. Develop and manage KPIs to measure operational effectiveness, utilizing data and technology to identify improvement areas.
  6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  7. Create a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively encouraging feedback to focus on the right areas.
  8. Work closely with HR to implement retention initiatives and manage attrition.
