The Principal Specialist will act as a key business partner to internal teams, collaborating closely with stakeholders to execute strategic procurement activities. This role will focus on managing complex and high value sourcing initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and adherence to procurement standards.
Responsibilities
- Act as a business partner to internal stakeholders, understanding their procurement needs and providing optimal solutions.
- Lead sourcing and procurement for high-value and complex contracts, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
- Ensure procurement activities are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring consistent quality, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions. Lead procurement negotiations, managing terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define procurement requirements, specifications, and expectations.
- Support the development and execution of procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
- Track procurement and vendor performance, perform and analyse spend data, prepare procurement repots and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop risk management strategies for procurement processes.
- Coordinate and respond to procurement audits in a timely and efficient manner.
- Build a culture of procurement compliance through continuous improvement and training to stakeholders.
- Support actively in the implementation of a new e-procurement system and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance to team members.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 to 9 years of relevant experience.
- Hands on experience in SAP S/4 Materials Management system is preferred.
- Good knowledge of government procurement policies is preferred.
- Familiar with e-procurement systems.
- Positive and resourceful individual with active listening skills to gather information and anticipate next steps.
- Situational problem-solving skills with ability to concise complex problem into executable solutions. Analytical mindset with strong attention to details and financial acumen.
- Good analytical, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to collaborate and function as a business partner to cross functional teams.
- Able to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment to perform duties accurately and prioritise and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Good presentation skills and comfortable presenting and delivering training sessions to internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
