Principal / Senior Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical)
Duties and Responsibilities of Senior Engineer
- Set design criteria, check design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare concept and sketch designs, and present / seek approval from the Team Leader before progressing to the next stage.
- Formalize standards for specifications, drawings, etc., in conjunction with the Team Leader.
- Attend design / site meetings.
- Resolve any technical problems faced during the project design and/or construction stages.
- Handle all correspondence including reports, technical specifications, and other project-related documents.
- Prepare and monitor cost and quantity estimates (assist with clarifications only).
- Lead projects with a team of engineers / technicians under their charge.
- Be fully familiar with coded and local Authority requirements.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the Team Leader / Division Manager.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities of Principal Engineer
- Assist in business development activities.
- Assist in preparing fee proposals.
- Carry out feasibility studies.
- Advise and report to the Team Leader and Division Manager on the adequacy of the services.
- Investigate and recommend engineering system selections.
Type of Engineer
- Mechanical Engineer should be familiar with ACMV, Fire Protection, Gas, Plumbing, and Sanitary Services.
- Electrical Engineer should be familiar with High Voltage, Low Voltage, Extra Low Voltage, Lightning Protection Services.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineering Board. A Master’s degree in building services engineering or equivalent will also be considered.
- 5 to 15 years of experience in design consultancy within the MEP consultancy field.
- Chartership membership with professional institutions is an advantage (e.g., CEng, etc.).
- Ability to communicate and articulate well in English, able to present design ideas, and report independently to stakeholders.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and effective team player skills.
