Cambridge CARES in Singapore leads the BloodCounts! AI4S project, delivering scalable AI research infrastructure for multi-modal blood data.

The Principal Research Software Engineer will oversee data pipelines, back-end infra, and deployment tools, working with a cross-institution team to enable rapid, reproducible AI research on sensitive healthcare data. The role is based primarily in the CREATE Tower at NUS, Singapore, and requires strong software engineering and leadership to advance

Qualifications

• Substantial software engineering experience in research/data-intensive contexts.
• Expert Python with strong SQL and software engineering practices.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and federated learning.
• Security-by-design across the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to prototype researcher-facing apps with JS/TS.
• Experience with high-volume databases and data formats.

Responsibilities

• Develop a high-volume clinical data database and reproducible pipelines.
• Lead deployment of federated learning infrastructure and tooling.
• Disseminate SOPs and coordinate with clinical/IT stakeholders.
• Mentor team members and contribute to research publications.
• Ensure secure, scalable infrastructure across cloud/on-prem/hybrid.
