OPIS is seeking a Principal Analyst who will be responsible for research and analysis on naphtha markets. This position will also play a key role in managing the delivery of a naphtha-focused service and will report to the Head of NGL & Naphtha within OPIS.
Support existing services via primary research and analytical studies, including end-use demand modeling, supply/demand balancing, trade flows, pricing, general market dynamics, individual company analysis, and econometric modeling.
Lead the preparation of models, data sets and analytics for activities covering naphtha.
Establish and maintain a reputation, both internal and external, for naphtha market expertise.
Contributes to feedstock price forecasting process and communicates the forecast key messages both internally and externally.
Lead the design and preparation of content delivery tools that enhance client experience.
Support preparation of content, analytical tools, and processes; become the primary interface with the systems development for the upcoming services.
Support preparation of content to communicate naphtha insight to oil companies, petrochemical producers, and downstream consumers.
Regularly provides neutral and objectively written content within Market Advisory Service content including weekly and monthly reports, special topic papers and strategic analyses.
Contributes to OPIS team dynamics to ensure consistent global market coverage and analysis.
Support and leverage intra-company expertise and content to support deliverables.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Information Systems Management, Data Science or relevant discipline. Degree in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred.
7+ years’ of experience, including market intelligence and consulting research
Knowledge of the energy value chain and a proven ability to quickly gain an applied understanding of market dynamics. Experience modeling refinery unit operation is a plus.
Outgoing personality: Ability and willingness to establish and maintain personal relationships and develop high degree of trust at multiple levels both internally & externally.
Excellent English communication skills (Verbal and Written) with the ability to clearly communicate complex content. Second language proficiency a plus.
Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and the manipulation of analytical tools such as databases, spreadsheets, process documenting and business intelligence applications.
Experience/knowledge of data visualization applications, data analysis and data modelling. Knowledge of Python scripting is a plus.
