Are you a seasoned technologist passionate about guiding organisations through complex legacy modernisations to achieve business success? We are looking for a Modernisation Strategist to join our team who would play the role of a trusted partner to Thoughtworks’ clients, helping shape the future of legacy modernisation through a focus on business outcomes delivered through technology excellence. You will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of large-scale transformation and modernisation strategies. You will be a key member of the Enterprise Modernisation, Platform and Cloud service line.

Job responsibilities

• You will partner closely with the different business verticals in identifying modernisation opportunities aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• You will be involved with pre-sales, lead generation, creating proposals, shaping engagements for clients, and helping to educate both clients and colleagues about the value of our services and the commercial success they can deliver.
• You will take a consultative approach with our clients' C-level executives and other stakeholders, working as their trusted advisor to enable them to achieve their business goals and redefine their industry.
• You will be a key member of the Enterprise Modernisation, Platform and Cloud service line, creating points of view and solutioning content through your insights on client needs and solutions, and defining progressive and repeatable practices to scale our efforts.
• You will drive creation of industry-leading IP and best practices for modernising legacy retail banking systems while nurturing and upskilling future thought leaders at Thoughtworks.
• You will partner closely with technical leaders to support the delivery team, ensuring they have what they need to successfully execute engagement and deliver impact to our clients.
• You will stay current with Thoughtworks' business strategy and technology goals.
• You will have billing targets that you will achieve by being fully or fractionally staffed on client engagements.

Job qualifications

Technical skills

• You have experienced and executed modernisation and migration in large-scale organisations.
• You possess a strong technical background, ideally experienced in more than one programming paradigm – familiarity with Python is a bonus.
• You are familiar with emerging technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Istio, PostgreSQL databases.
• You understand architectural principles like MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) and LIFESPAR, and how to apply them in practice.
• You have strong knowledge of building cloud-native architectures using microservices and serverless, including interaction styles like synchronous and asynchronous communication, data streaming, and API technologies.
• You understand various levels of data consistency, such as linearizability vs serializability.
• You have knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery approaches, including multi-AZ, multi-region, and multi-cloud deployments.
• You have experience in security and system performance management from the start of solution development.
• You possess strong client-facing skills and can effectively communicate technical positions to skilled client architects.
• You exhibit attention to detail and can connect overarching client strategies to team outcomes.
• You are well-versed in Agile, Lean, Continuous Delivery, SRE practices, and DevOps philosophies.

• You have experience engaging with C-level stakeholders using a consultative approach to maximize customer outcomes.
• You possess strong technology and consulting acumen, translating it into business value.
