Job description

Position Overview:

The Principal/Lead Layout and Piping Engineer leads and manages Layout and Piping engineering activities primarily for Topside facilities in FPSO/FLNG or Offshore projects. This role involves developing and maintaining corporate technical standards, procedures, workflows, and engineering platforms (e.g., Piping design data integration), incorporating project lessons learned to ensure practical and fit-for-purpose solutions.

He/She supports the Head of Discipline in managing the discipline team and mentors Piping Engineers. The engineer conducts technical validation and quality assurance, ensuring data accuracy, technical appropriateness, compliance with codes, and regulatory standards. The role may involve leading as Project Discipline Lead for executing feasibility, conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCI phases of FPSO/FLNG or offshore projects.

The candidate should be capable of analyzing and communicating optimal solutions via technical reports. Frequent travel to the US, Europe, and Asia may be required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong offshore oil & gas background, expertise in Topsides Layout and Piping Engineering, and strategic focus on concept through EPC projects, supporting engineering teams globally.

Responsibilities:

Corporate, General

• Develop corporate technical standards and procedures for Topside Layout and Piping.
• Create Topside Engineering workflows and platforms.
• Assist in managing the corporate organization.
• Maintain and update lessons learned database for FEED/EPCI and O&M phases.

Proposal/Pre-award Phase

• Conduct feasibility studies to propose optimal technical solutions.
• Ensure engineering documents comply with relevant standards and client specifications.
• Support proposal development with engineering expertise.
• Optimize layout for safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
• Support bid proposals with estimates of man-hours and costs.

Feasibility Study/Pre-FEED/FEED/EPCI Phase

• Lead or advise on project discipline activities.
• Serve as the focal point for discipline communication with clients.
• Manage interfaces with other disciplines and project teams.
• Lead and mentor the project discipline team.
• Participate in project meetings and generate MOM.
• Report project progress and concerns to management.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and develop project standards.
• Develop design philosophies, project specifications, and supervise engineering activities.
• Review vendor documents and manage third-party scope and deliverables.
• Support construction, commissioning, and operational teams.

Operation & Maintenance Phase

• Support O&M teams in troubleshooting and modifications.
