Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The role holder is responsible for providing leadership to the academic and administrative functions of the campus, developing a clear mission and vision, and ensuring smooth operations.

Leadership

  1. Leads the Academic and Non-Academic functions in the respective geography.
  2. Designs and delivers annual Academic priorities and organizational strategies in line with the organization’s business plan.
  3. Aligns the campus’s mission and vision and designs policies, procedures, and processes to GSF’s academic direction.
  4. Ensures the highest standards in the curriculum and pedagogy for the implementation of the curriculum, and timely interventions for curricular and pedagogical corrections.

Financial

  1. Works closely with the Deputy COO and Country Director on the forecasting and budgeting process.
  2. Discusses the previous year's data to determine trends and makes predictions for the current year in terms of potential enrollment numbers and the various expenses, such as Human Resources, facilities, projects, academic resourcing.
  3. Provides inputs to the staffing budget to ensure learning standards will not be compromised.

Functional Strategic

  1. Identifies and communicates key goals and performance indicators and sets measurable targets to evaluate staff’s performance.
  2. Develops, monitors, and reviews strategic plans and processes to best employ expertise, talent, and resources for the campus.
  3. Reviews succession plans for Coordinators.

Academic Operations

  1. Oversees the various curriculums in the campus (e.g. CBSE, Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, etc., where applicable).
  2. Supports the National Head in curriculum planning and vetting.
  3. Facilitates inter-campus projects, activities, or sharing sessions with the other GIIS campuses.
  4. Works closely with the National Head, Academics and Associate Director, Academic Quality Assurance to understand student achievements, results, and feedback in the campus, and to identify areas for improvement.
  5. Provides assistance to the teachers in order to improve their teaching capabilities and instructional techniques.
  6. Evaluates teaching programs’ relevancy and effectiveness relating to the development of students’ cognitive, physical, aesthetic, social, moral, and leadership capabilities.
  7. Be responsible for all day-to-day management of the students, staff, adults, resources, and building so as to promote and secure the achievement and well-being of all students and adults.
  8. Will work with the Management to provide an environment in which all staff and students are enabled to achieve success and to build towards achieving their potential.
  9. Will ensure that all school policies are regularly reviewed and updated and that staff and Management are involved in this process.
  10. Advise and support staff in policy development and implementation.
  11. Ensure that the curriculum and pastoral care of the school is appropriate to the students’ differing experiences, interests, aptitudes, and backgrounds.
  12. Give priority to developing high-quality teaching and learning across the School.
  13. Create a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all students can achieve success, have an appropriate layer of challenge, and become engaged in their own learning.
  14. Ensure that a system for monitoring and developing the quality of teaching and learning is in place.
  15. Demonstrate and articulate high expectations and set stretched targets for the whole school community.
  16. Encourage new developments in the curriculum and capitalize on new initiatives.
  17. Develop and implement effective policies for ensuring that students’ behavior is appropriate and supportive to their own learning and the learning of others.
  18. Implement strategies that maintain high standards of behavior and attendance.
  19. Take a strategic role in the development of new and emerging technologies to enhance and extend the learning experience of students.

Non-Academic Operations

  1. Collaborates with the Admissions Head to increase admission numbers and strengthen the campus’s reputation.
  2. Works closely with the Operations Head to ensure smooth operations in the campus, facilities and cleanliness are maintained, emergency evacuation procedures are developed, IT systems are up-to-date, etc.
  3. Works closely with Human Resources for training and development and recruitment matters.
  4. Works closely with Finance on budgeting and fee collection.
  5. Ensure that all statutory requirements for CPE registration are fulfilled.
  6. Ensure that all statutory requirements are published on the school website, including the school’s vision, mission, values, and culture.
  7. Leads and manages the school on a day-to-day basis and is the first point of contact for all stakeholders and external agencies in matters relating to the school.

Interaction

  1. Maintains relationships with local regulators and ensures compliance with the statutory requirements.
  2. Addresses complex parent inquiries.
  3. Supports the organizing and providing of ongoing professional development for teachers and staff.

People Focus

  1. Collaborates proactively with Human Resources to continuously increase competency within the campus to meet future needs through the development and recruitment of talent.
  2. Leads the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees in the function.
  3. Builds and manages high-performing teams within the campus by providing leadership, role clarity, training, and career development.
  4. Attends all staff meetings, workshops, courses, school events, etc. which may take place at weekends or in the evenings.
