Job description

Job Title: Principal AI Data Strategist, Global Procurement (Req. ID: JR106237)

Overview

Lead the reimagination of the procurement data landscape to enable agentic AI to execute Source-to-Pay work reliably, safely, and at scale. This hands‑on strategy and design role focuses on untangling complex, cross‑system data challenges and translating business intent into a data operating model that empowers agents while maintaining human oversight for exception handling, governance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reimagine the Data Governance and Excellence operating model with agents embedded, redefining policies, data quality monitoring, lineage, stewardship, and lifecycle management for an agent‑centric workflow.
  • Define the target working model, agentic patterns (e.g., data quality agent, lineage agent, maintenance agent, steward copilot), and a roadmap aligned with ERP readiness and transformation milestones.
  • Partner with agent build leads to specify data elements, quality thresholds, and validation rules; map business requirements to data sources, owners, and readiness actions.
  • Close gaps in master data coverage to ensure lineage, definitions, and ownership are complete; establish a searchable data dictionary and glossary for both humans and agents.
  • Design automated feedback loops linking agents, source systems, and stewards to achieve data validation, correction, and prevention without manual intervention.
  • Build technical foundations—data lineage, relationships, schema, and cross‑system mapping—to support the agentic model and enable traceability before changes land.
  • Document, version, and maintain change history and downstream impact analysis to allow agents to consume and update the catalog.
  • Prioritize Critical Data Elements that drive procurement value and define control points at entry.
  • Align data strategy with IT, Data Excellence, Security, and Compliance, ensuring compliance with enterprise controls, sensitivity labels, data loss prevention, and approved connectors.
  • Create lightweight, machine‑readable policies and standards that agents enforce automatically, shifting governance from static documents to executable rules.
  • Establish data quality KPIs, SLAs, and monitoring frameworks for measurable and managed quality.
  • Run rapid experiments on agentic data patterns, validate impact, and convert successful patterns into reusable building blocks for broader use.
  • Pilot AI‑based data validation and cleansing tools and assess fit against Micron’s data landscape.
  • Coach data stewards, custodians, category managers, and business owners on the agent‑embedded operating model, policy authoring, and data quality signals.
  • Coordinate with automation, agent build, and AI strategy teams, representing the data agenda in program reviews and executive readouts.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Data/Information Management, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10+ years in enterprise data management, including 6+ years leading data governance, MDM, or data quality programs in a large, multi‑region SAP environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with procurement, sourcing, or supply‑chain data.
  • Experience with data lineage, cross‑system mapping, data dictionaries, business glossaries, and working SQL proficiency.
  • Direct experience defining data requirements for production AI/ML or agentic workflows, including data readiness, quality thresholds, and validation or feedback rules.
  • Proven ability to influence IT, Security, and business stakeholders without direct authority.
Preferred Requirements
  • Reimagining a data governance operating model with AI or agents embedded; experience with agentic patterns such as data quality agents, lineage agents, maintenance agents, and steward copilots.
  • Experience in Source‑to‑Pay, Procure‑to‑Pay, or Supply Chain data domains (Vendor Master, Material Master, Spend, Category Taxonomy, Contracts).
  • Operationalized an enterprise data governance operating model (roles, decision rights, policies, KPIs, stewardship) with measurable adoption.
  • Hands‑on implementation experience with Informatica, Collibra, or Ataccama.
  • Familiarity with ERP migration data readiness, machine‑readable policies, data loss prevention, and sensitivity‑label impacts on AI connector access.
  • Additional certifications in data management (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional), AI and analytics, or procurement transformation.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP Ariba procurement data (sourcing, contracts, or spend).
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake) and enterprise BI tools (Power BI or Tableau).
  • Comfort collaborating across US and Asia time zones, with regular overlap with US‑based stakeholders.
