Key Job Description

• Source the best possible cost from ocean carriers and coloaders to provide our Sales and Operations teams with competitive pricing to win more ocean business and grow our volumes.
• Provide ocean quotations, including trucking, for tenders/bids and to the Singapore sales and relevant internal stakeholders as required.
• Take direction from our AP ocean regional management regarding strategies and pricing in line with our corporate direction.
• Work with stipulated regional carriers and coloaders as directed, while exercising initiative to work with selected local carrier options.
• Establish strong relationships with partner carriers on a local level.
• Collaborate with regional ocean trade desk teams to provide competitive and customized freight solutions for all ocean requests.
• Work with carriers to secure space allocation and long-term rates based on NAC strategy, in collaboration with our regional ocean team.
• Act as the local subject matter expert (SME) for ocean pricing, providing pricing guidance and market intelligence to internal stakeholders.
• Assist in resolving rates/contracts disputes with carriers when needed.
• Aim to achieve a good yield per TEU through renegotiation with liners as an ongoing process.
• Provide monthly ocean volume reports.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by your superior.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or tertiary qualifications in supply chain/logistics.
• At least 3 to 5 years of ocean freight forwarding experience, preferably in pricing procurement.
• A team player who is self-motivated with good interpersonal skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Persistent with good negotiation skills.
• Resilient and able to work under pressure.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
