Job summary

SompoRe seeks a Pricing Actuary for its Singapore office to price treaty reinsurance across Property, Casualty and Specialty lines in the APAC region. You will collaborate with underwriting teams to analyze exposure and market dynamics, supporting decision-making with risk-reflective pricing.

The role requires a strong mathematical background, actuarial certification progress, and at least 3 years’ APAC reinsurance pricing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Fellow or Associate status with a recognized actuarial society, or actively progressing toward it.
• Minimum of 3 years’ APAC reinsurance pricing experience.

Responsibilities

• Price Property, Casualty, and Specialty reinsurance treaties in the APAC region.
• Collaborate with underwriters to analyze exposure and market dynamics for pricing decisions.
• Communicate pricing factors during underwriting discussions.
• Prepare pricing documentation following industry best practices and internal standards.
• Calibrate actuarial model assumptions (trends, rate changes, exposure curves) to reflect current market conditions.
• Support audits, validation, and review processes as needed.
• Guide interns on reinsurance pricing methodologies to build team capability.
• Execute ad hoc projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Price Property, Casualty, and Specialty reinsurance treaties in the APAC region.
• Collaborate with our underwriters to analyze exposure and market dynamics for informed pricing decisions.
• Communicate key pricing factors clearly during underwriting roundtable discussions.
• Prepare comprehensive pricing documentation adhering to industry best practices and internal standards.
• Calibrate actuarial model assumptions and parameters, such as trends, rate changes, and exposure curves, to reflect current market conditions.
• Support internal audits, validation, and review processes as needed.
• Guide interns on reinsurance fundamentals and pricing methodologies to build team capability.
• Execute ad hoc projects as assigned to address emerging business needs.

Required competencies and certifications

• Strong mathematical or statistical background: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
• Fellow or Associate status with a recognized actuarial society, or actively progressing toward it.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in APAC reinsurance pricing.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language and willingness to engage constructively with other teams.
• Demonstrated sound professional judgment and high attention to detail with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Programming skills is an advantage.
• Effective workflow management and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
