Job summary

Muslim Missionary Society Singapore, The Jamiyah Singapore is seeking an Early Childhood Educator to plan age-appropriate learning experiences in line with ECDA guidelines and the Centre’s curriculum framework. You will foster a caring, inclusive environment and collaborate with Educarers and families to support each child’s development.

The role requires at least a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, with 1 year of preschool experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECDA recognised).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a preschool or childcare setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with data analysis/reporting tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to attend events outside of office hours when required.

Job Description

• Apply principles of early childhood development to plan and implement age-appropriate and engaging lesson plans aligned with ECDA guidelines and the Centre’s curriculum framework.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and emotionally secure environment that supports each child's well-being and learning.
• Conduct daily activities that promote children's physical, cognitive, creative, and social development (e.g., show and tell, storytelling, arts and crafts, music & movement, field trips).
• Promote language and literacy through shared reading, buddy reading, and one-on-one sessions.
• Observe, document, and assess children’s developmental progress using portfolios, checklists, and the Centre's management system.
• Identify and report developmental, emotional, or behavioural concerns and collaborate with relevant parties for intervention.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and abilities, including differentiated instruction.
• Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and organisation in accordance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
• Lead and support arrival, dismissal, and transition routines, ensuring children's well-being at all times.
• Ensure consistent adherence to health and safety protocols, including hygiene practices and emergency procedures.
• Establish open and effective communication with families to support continuity of learning between home and Centre.
• Engage parents in their children's learning journeys and conduct regular conferences or check-ins.
• Supervise and guide Educarers in implementing age-appropriate care routines and developmental activities for infants and toddlers.
• Support Educarers in observing and documenting development and maintaining daily communication logs.
• Coordinate and oversee feeding, napping, and toileting routines, ensuring consistency and individual care.
• Act as the liaison between Educarers and the Centre Leader on bay-related matters such as supplies, incidents, or staffing concerns.
• Induct and mentor new Educarers in daily routines and Centre practices.
• Step in to provide direct care and classroom support during staff absences or peak times.
• Ensure the inventory of bay supplies (e.g., diapers, wipes, cleaning materials) is sufficient and report shortages to the Centre Administrator.
• Coordinate daily cleaning schedules in alignment with ECDA and SPARK standards.
• Participate actively in team meetings, curriculum reviews, school projects, and community events.
• Contribute to Centre initiatives such as SPARK accreditation, licensing, and professional learning communities.
• Mentor assistant teachers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, collegiality, and professionalism.
• Perform administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the Centre Leader.
